There's an organism that captures a snail and makes it do weird things before it dies. First the organism hatches from bird poop in a pond or in wet grass - its a swimmer and then the snail picks it up moving over the grass or hanging out at the pond and it invades the snail's body and becomes wormy (I forget the biological names). It fills up the body of the snail but keeps it alive. It makes it (somehow) climb out on the top of a leaf and then it makes one eye stalk bulge and wiggle and attracts the attention of a bird - that eats the infected snail and the cycle continues.
I hope snails can't feel as acutely as I can. The idea of having one's body taken over and made to do something lethal is pretty terrible to me. (I imagine the ant might feel the same way).
Of course viruses use us like this - sometimes we just cough and sneeze and are helpful in that way. Sometimes (like Ebola and Marlburg) our bodies turn into viral sacks and eventually collapse, leaking the virus babies everywhere.
I guess brains won't be the deciding factor in the ultimate survivor game on this planet.

The snail thing was worse than the ants I actually think they're kinda cute with their lil eye stalks and all..I always feel horrible if I accidently step on one. Ants...live and let live..they stay off my turf I don't buy raid ;D

Back to the Zombie ants - and zombie grasshoppers and moths and beetles - a video - the process can take 3 weeks. I wonder for long the ant is alive??? I wonder if Nature will devise something like this for us one day? Paulette has shared an article with you on The Huffington Post: New Zombie-Creating Fungi Discovered www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/02/zombie-creating-fungi-cordyceps_n_830558.html(has a creepy video to go with it)
