If one is "friended" don't all posts from the friend end up on the home page of that person? And cannot other people then see them? I admit I do not understand FB (am on it anyway)

Rule of thumb Paulette...do not put ANYTHING on facebook that you don't want the world to know..including the government. They've had some problems with security. I have an account but I don't post to it.

I admit I do not understand FB (am on it anyway) Paulette: Your homepage shows YOU what your friends are posting... nobody can view your homepage but YOU. As long as your friends don't post things on your wall, you have nothing to worry about. Everyone can see what is posted on your wall... depending on what your privacy settings are. My profile is set up right now so that only my friends can see what is on my wall. You can also post things that only a select few people can see... ~shrug~

Paulette. There are settings.. You can put that you only share things with friends or friends of friends, which means all your friends ..friends can see what you post.. I get all kinds of people wanting to be my friend I have never heard of. As they can see my wall through my friends wall..but the settings never work for me. when I put only friends it still goes to friends of friends..
Recently, I got pms from one person and it was sent to three of my friends also. My girlfriend and I cannot understand what is going on, we cannot even send private messages any more.. I sent her a pm and some guy in France which is my friend who cannot speak english, got it. One night I told my Daughter tonia Good nite I love you. My reply the next day was from Jacques saying Merci lois Merci Lois. kisses .. kisses... he got instead, I had told him I loved him.. OMG, I had a heck of a time getting out of that one.. lol lol.. I do not say anything about anyone on there as they may get the pm themselves.. so what is private on facebook?

Im in Gene Vincent fan club.. a singer from the 50s. he has a facebook account. He is dead at 36, but a french lady who is president of the fan club runs his facebook wall. He was very popular in France. So now I have 58 friends in france. only 20 per cent of them can speak english but we try. to comunicate..My ten year old Grandaughter was up here thanksgiving and said grand ma who are all this people on your wall speaking french. When I told her she just laughed, I was busy in my kitchen. I come back and she had translated all they said and replied back in french.. then a guy from Germany came on and said Lois, you have learned french. He speaks four languages. one is french. but he does speak English also.. Rose told him in German, Im rose you are speaking to lois is my grandma, they talked in german for a half hour.. When she went home all these french people started writing letters on my wall in french. thinking I could understand them .. well I just decided to translate a little myself.. They mostly talk about Gene and his music . we share photos of Genes and his music on u tube.. So when I sent the pm to my daughter I was surprised. I have been on there two years and this just started about three months ago. Now jacques sends me messages and my girfriend see them as well. he wrote to me in french and she got the copy also.. she says Lois tell me what he says on here. One was Lois I sent only messages to you. I dont understand.. so he quit for awhile and I had to tell him go ahead and send me messages as I was mad at facebook for letting this happen. we still dont understand it.. anyone here know how to fix this situation on facebook.. watch what you send in private..
I said something about my son which made me mad to my girlfriend last week, well my son go it too, I had to call him on the phone and apologize

I have some serious issues/concerns with Facebook. I've learned not to participate in ANY of their cutesy little games and apps. And I don't touch anything that "asks for permission" to allow me to participate. And everything I read says it's going to get worse, not better.....

ditto above but I have a fb account anyway with just a few friends. I hate the look of those stoopid games anyway.

Just to speak to the "other side" of this...I have "friended" a lot of people who have similar interests (rocks and minerals) and live all over the world. One person in India sent me a box of beautiful Indian and Pakastani minerals (rarer here than there). I get to see gem and things that I would have to travel the world to see. I will never meet most of these "friends". However, my husband and I did meet up with a younger set of folks who live on the mainland and rock hound. They took us on an adventure in the Kamloops area looking for agate and then we met them this year to look on the Fraser River bar at Yale. They are roughly the age of my son but they encourage us along and post pictures of all of us soaking wet, clutching our finds. If I was restrictive, this would never have happened.
I do agree that the games are a devise to harvest email addresses, birthdays, etc and even when I want to do one I see that Allow box and hit cancel. Paulette

I didn't know you were interested in rocks, Jo. What type do you like? Do you go out hunting for them very often? I'm mainly interested in fossils and prehistoric life but I collect rocks and minerals also. What do you do with these dreamcatchers that you make?

She has a HUGE collection of them in her room... a whole wall covered in them... That's cool that you make them too. I'm thinking maybe that's why I haven't had sleep paralysis lately. She made me a dream catcher. ;D

I have a lot of friends on facebook... most of them are people whom I actually know or work-with or family members. I have met a few of them because of my hobbies. Lois, I also have some French-speaking people on my profile and I've had to translate their comments from time to time because they are also fans of my favorite rock group. ;D
The most recent translation attempt was on a photograph of the lead singer. They were all posting about how cute he was and one of them said, in German, "He's mine!"
I replied, in German, "Oh no! He is MINE!"
She replied in English that I was too young for him and he was her age... (which is true... lol...)
Then three other people commented, in French, "He likes the younger ones better lol"
~smirk~
Thank you Google translator... ~smirk~

I am particularly fond of moldavite (meteorite from the Czetch republic) I have a few pieces of it (chips) but it's like gold..angelite, hematite, moonstone, labradorite, citrine, sugilite and quartz crystal. Most of these are energy amplifiers of one sort or another..most minerals are but these are favorites of mine. They are also fantastic amplifiers for meditation. My dream catchers I give to people who value such things or who need a 'spiritual' pick-me-up. Ineffective if sold to someone. Certain stones are used to certain effect. Dream catchers protect against bad dreams..I never have one so they must work

Facebook is really UNSAFE if you have any secrets you want to keep private. And when you read something somewhere else, and click on the "share" symbol for facebook, be advised that someone who wants to harass you about what you liked can then see your profile and anything posted on your wall. I just had to block someone for harassment - someone who doesn't think saving animals is a virtue - so he began using foul language and badgering me via private messages.
Also, don't go to promotions for catalogs and coupon offers from your facebook page, and stay away from the games and the other junk that ends up costing you money. When one of those companies gets hacked, then they can get to you via your facebook link.
