www.dw.com/en/germans-believe-in-aliens/a-18735469 Germans believe in aliensSept. 24, 2015 It's not just sci-fi nerds: According to a representative survey, a lot of Germans can put their skepticism aside when it comes to creatures from outer space. Even scientists believe there could be extraterrestrial life. Are we alone in the universe? More than half of the Germans polled in a recent survey don't think so. Market research institute YouGov asked 1,171 people whether they believed in extraterrestrials and 56 percent said yes. More than 1,000 people asked is considered a representative number for Germany. YouGov researchers conducted the survey via an online questionnaire between September 18 and 22. Anna Schneider, senior consultant with the institute, said she was not surprised by the high number of believers. "The reason for believing is a mix of hope and fear," Schneider told DW. "It's hard for humans to imagine that we are this special and singular in a universe whose end we don't even know, but it's also not easy to picture sharing the special status of intelligent life. So I expected an outcome of around fifty-fifty." Life finds a wayThe idea that aliens or extraterrestrials could exist is not just purported by a layman's majority; it's also subject to serious scientific research. "The formation of life in the entire cosmos, in every niche it can find, is probably a completely natural process," Klaus Jäger, astronomer at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy , told DW. He pointed to the fact that simple forms of life survive even in the most barren conditions, like at the bottom of the deep sea. Why not on far-away planets? Discoveries made by space missions support the idea that somewhere, extraterrestrials exist, according to Jäger. "Scientific facts are pretty clearly pointing toward the existence of life outside of Earth," the astronomer and spokesman of the German Astronomical Society said. "Even in interstellar gas that floats around and among the stars in our milky way we've found organic material, which is the preliminary stage to life." You seriously have to be very closed minded and in my not so humble opinion stupid to not believe in aliens, in the universe that is. I mean the sheer size, number of stars and planets in our galaxy alone creates very good odds for life on other planets. Now, if you haven't had a personal experience, I can totally understand not believing in them visiting our planet. But, if you think outside of the box, it really isn't that far fetched. Just imagine for a second that there IS life on other planets, now consider the fact that our universe is at least 13.8 billion years old. Now, think about how short humans have been on this planet and the even shorter amount of time that we have been technologically "advanced". Now, assuming we survive as a species for another few thousand years, imagine where we would be. Now, imagine another intelligent species that has had that chance to evolves thousands, if not millions or even billions of years past where we are currently. These beings would be gods to us, even in our current state. They would potentially have the ability to blend in to matter rendering themselves completely invisible to us, travel through dimensions, do things that we haven't even imagined to imagine yet. The crazy part is that really isn't that far fetched when you think about this from a logical viewpoint. The sheer numbers involved in our universe make this not only possible but totally plausible and almost probable. For those of us who have had experiences we know this as fact and not fiction. Personally, I believe these beings are SO advanced they are literally viewing us as an out of control ant hill that is messing up their back yard, and are starting to get pretty fed up with it. I only hope to god that there is some kind of an order at this advanced level with some sort of ethics so they don't spray the ant killer anytime soon. What surprises me is that only 56% said yes. People sure are igannant when it comes to general knowledge of the universe. When I had my encounter, and spoke with abductees, and other folks who shared similar viewpoints it only raised more questions than answers. I mean come on guys, I came on this forum to read through your threads and learn all the answers once of all DANGIT! I wish I had that book Bob Lazar talked about, that way at least I had some idea about what the heck is going on here, because without a shadow of a doubt in my mind, there came a point in my life where I said to myself, there is DEFINITELY something else going on here. I have only began to scratch the surface of the tip of the ice cube on top of the snowflake of the iceberg, and this iceberg takes up half the dang ocean.

Of gabillions of planets ours is the only one to grow life? Can't buy that. Even the ones that wouldn't support our kind of life..could sport some altered varieties beyond our wildest imaginations. If you stop long enough...and set aside everything you know..you can 'feel' the 'more' of it. That there is so much more beyond our comprehension. I've such a driving need to know..I think all of us here do.

Most People Believe in E.T.by Stephanie Pappas, LiveScience Contributor / www.space.com/contact_author.php?a=VTNSbGNHaGhibWxsSUNCUVlYQndZWE1xYzNCaGNIQmhjeW95 September 25, 2015 Many people believe alien life capable of communication is out there ... Credit: NASA Are humans alone in the universe? A majority of people, particularly guys, in the United States, United Kingdom and Germany say they believe that intelligent life is out there. Fifty-six percent of Germans, 54 percent of Americans and 52 percent of people from the United Kingdom believe that alien life capable of communication lives somewhere among the stars, according to a new survey by the marketing research firm YouGov. However, in the United Kingdom at least, people are slightly cautious about whether humans should reach out to E.T. Among U.K. respondents, 46 percent said a digital message should be sent into space in the hopes that it reaches intelligent aliens. Another 33 percent said no message should be sent, and 21 percent said they weren't sure. [7 Things Most Often Mistaken for UFOs] Searching for E.T.Humanity has long wondered whether it is alone in the universe, and the search is on to find the answer. The SETI Institute in California, for example, uses radio telescopes to hunt for signals from alien civilizations. In July, physicist Stephen Hawking backed two new projects for the search. The Breakthrough Listen project aims to use the Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia and the Parkes Observatory in Australia to listen for alien radio signals. The Lick Telescope in California will be on the lookout for light signals from lasers as part of that project. (Lasers are directed light beams that can travel relatively far, so there's a chance aliens might use them to get in touch.) The second project is called Breakthrough Message and is an international competition to draft a digital message to send to the stars. (The message won't necessarily be sent, but researchers say they hope the entries will spur thought and debate about how to communicate with aliens.) Between those who say they believe in alien intelligence and those who say they aren't sure whether it exists, the alien nonbelievers are in the minority, according to the new YouGov survey. Only 12 percent of Germans, 22 percent of Americans and 20 percent of people from the United Kingdom said they do not believe intelligent aliens exist. The survey also asked E.T. believers why they thought aliens had not yet made contact. More than half (58 percent) said intelligent aliens are too far away to contact Earth. Fifty-seven percent agreed with the notion that human technology isn't advanced enough for people to reach out to E.T. Of the E.T. believers, 24 percent said that extraterrestrial life knows about Earthlings but chooses not to reach out. Seventeen percent said alien intelligence has already reached out, but governments have covered it up. Men are more likely to believe in intelligent aliens than are women, and also more likely to say humanity should reach out. A majority of men (54 percent) said humans should try to contact aliens, while only 40 percent of women agreed. I think most everyone figures it's pretty narrow to think of this enormous universe (and I know there are more) and figure we're the only sentient beings. Consider life..it doesn't have to be humanoid life at all...but I don't think many are ready to go there but then..those are the people who believe in life on other planets..not necessarily that it's coming here. I am more of a 'dimensional' thinker when it comes to alien life visiting here...but most people aren't ready for that thinking either. They still want those trekkies buzzing around from planet to planet in a souped up Enterprise..we've been kind of cultivated to think that way..and that IS the ideal..I think not the reality.
