I went in to work last night and noticed new signs were up. I guess the merchandisers were busy.
In addition to the Barefoot wine helium balloon (which does look pretty cool IMO...) we now have two brand new blue neon beer signs. Both signs are close to the door to the back room.
...
When I went to the back room to use the restroom... I felt uneasy under the blue neon lights. I don't really know how to describe it. It made me feel weird. Almost a numb feeling I want to say...
I had to go to the back room several times during the night, and each time I felt that odd sensation when I passed into the area illuminated by them...
Does anyone else feel weird when they are around neon lights, or is it just me?

I can't say that I am bothered by neon lights but I don't go by them very often so I wouldn't know.

That shade of neon blue has always been something incredibly strong to me Lorelei..why I don't remember. I am not sure that it had anything to do with the encounter I had..but when I see that shade of blue..I can't look away. You're not alone.

Not at all. The urge is to get away from it as soon as I can... it draws my eye too though... when it's afar... I can deal with it when I'm on the other side of the store... but I don't like to be standing near it... or IN it... Bad feeling. Very bad. Nervous and numb...

Very exact to what I feel Lorelei. I've asked people about that electric shade of blue in relation to UFO's and there are a couple of them out there..I just don't know but I know at some time or another I was surrounded by it and there..is as far as memory goes. If you ever figure yours out let me know.

Some people can be affected by certain types of light. I don't know If neon lights fits the description though.
Do you get these uncomfortable feelings around other types of lighting as well, or just neon lights?

So far... just the neon blue ones... I do get migraines when I'm around bright lights though in general... for example, driving with the sun in my eyes for a few minutes can trigger a headache... but not always.
~shrug~
It was an odd feeling. I'm not looking forward to having to be around those lights after my "weekend" is over. I'll just have to deal with it though...

It's not that it's neon..for me anyway..it's THAT shade of blue and I can't describe the feeling I get. I'm more transfixed by it..(deer in the headlights kind of thing).

I am beginning to wonder now if it is the color and not the type of lighting... I've been around neon signs before... red and yellow and orange... and they never bothered me... but these blue ones do bother me... and I have no idea why...

Could be either, but I think It's more likely It's the type of lighting. Newer Neon signs use LED's instead of Neon.
Certain lights operate at a certain type of Hertz which can affect people In some of the ways you describe. Or It could be something physiological. I have felt some of the feelings you describe myself, but not due to lights.

That's true about different lights effecting people in different ways. I know a lot of people complain that those new blue car headlights cause them to have migraines when they see them.
It could also be that the lights are causing a psychological response to some repressed memory of something that happened in the past.

For a long time I thought my 'blue light' thing had something to do with our abduction but I don't get the same kind of feeling twixt the two. Beats me...sure as a moth to a light bulb I'm drawn by that color.

I feel how all of you have been describing here, but not from the light but the sound of neon signs.. I was in Our Best Buy store a few years ago. I was being waited on and the clerk notice that I was annoyed by something. I asked him where the sound was coming from which a normal person I'm sure would of paid no attention to. My head was rolling and I got very cold and sweat running down my face. He said . the sound you hear may be all the lighting we have on the ceiling.
I looked up and sure enough fluorescent light rods running from one in of the store to the other. Neon and them both make me sick, I don't fear it only fear of feeling sick and weird I think it has something to do with my ufo experience as before the missing time encounter things like this did not bother me..Gas stations .. Restaurants.. you name it has signs like these. The color blue does not bother me..

Oh except the neon blue ring around my Beg E on my monitor .. I hate it.. when I look away I see this red ring in front of me.
Jo you and Lorelei would go crazy with this one..If you leave your computer it blinks on and off. for two years now I sit a book on end on the desk and lean it up against it to blot it out. It sits at the bottom of the monitor.. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about if you have ever seen a E Machine computer made by gateway. My brother and his wife got a new computer for Christmas... I finally seen it the other day and it is a E Machine.. lol .. My sister in law says how do you turn that blue light off.?? I told her about how mine bother me and yet they did remember it....

I've seen e-machines before... although I do not own one. The light on computers, even if it's blue, doesn't bother me. The only thing that bothers me is standing in the light in the liquor store. The light itself doesn't bother me... although it does draw my eye... but I don't like it shining on me, I don't like it around me. When I go back to work tomorrow I'm going to do an experiment. First, I'm going to close my eyes and walk into the light and see if it still affects me. If it still affects me, I will walk out of the light, cover my ears and walk into it again. I'll find out if it's the sound, or the light that bothers me. I don't care if my co-workers and customers think I'm crazy. I'll do it when they aren't looking... lol...

Ok, here are the results of my experiment.
I walked towards where the light shone on the floor, closed my eyes, then felt with my hand outstretched for the back door. I walked through the light with my eyes closed to the door. No weird feeling.
I pretended to be doing something in the back room so my co-worker wouldn't think I was being weird. I then covered my ears and walked back through the light into the store. Weird feeling.
It's not the sound. It's the light. I asked my co-worker if the light bothered him.
He admitted that it made him feel a little weird and he wasn't really sure why.
Conclusion: I have NO idea...

I'm bothered by my computer flashing on and off too Lois but like a lot of others who use them for business..mine is never shut off. I do however..shut off the monitor so I don't see it at night.

Somewhere in one of the many many clips on this board is an explanation that alien technology uses a form of light generation that is far far brighter than our lights. It is possible to manufacture here but I don't think we use them. They are blue. Wish I could remember where this was discussed....maybe the clip about the Guardian tape and landing in northern BC that was posted recently....

I sleep in the same room with my computer.. I would go crazy if I had to watch this blue E. Though my eyes are close I sense it on. Like the darn street light outside directly in front of my window.. I pull the blinds and close my dark colored curtains..

Welcome Skeptklgaze,
Certain colors are well known in effecting the moods and psychology of a person. Some colors make you alert, others are soothing. US Navy studies were conducted long ago for submarine crews about this. This is applied in businesses, stores and hotels.
If you think this may not apply in your particular case related to the blue neon colors, it might then perhaps be a memory of some past association with that color. I could ask further questions, but then those could be 'leading' toward one conclusion or another. It would be necessary to go one step at a time, if this old thread discussion is still relevant. I know Lorelei no longer works at the place where the blue neon light is so it maybe a past concern now.
That blue neon I remember was associated with a display at a liquor store Loreliei once worked at. It I think was to convey the beverages where 'ice cold', something that since Lorelei already lives in Alaska may only make her annoyed perhaps? As in gee, just what we need...more cold....
But it also maybe a interesting topic for others if the wish to continue the discussion.
Steve
