What the heck kind of security do we have when the FBI and the Department of Homeland "Security" can be hacked by a 16 year old kid?? British cops arrest teen for hacking DHS, FBI and personal accounts A 16-YEAR-OLD BOY living in England has been arrested in connection with the recent hack of FBI and DHS data, as well as the personal email accounts of CIA director John Brennan and homeland security chief Jeh Johnson.
The alleged hacker had told Motherboard webzine that he had swiped the names, titles and contact information for 20,000 FBI employees and 9,000 Department of Homeland Security employees. He told Motherboard this was possible through a compromised Department of Justice email.
Authorities believe this is the same hacker who compromised the private email accounts of Brennan and Johnson in October, though officials say neither man used these accounts for government use. As for the agency data, reports indicate that the pilfered information amounted to an internal phone directory.
"There is no indication at this time that there is any breach of sensitive or personally identifiable information," DHS said in a statement earlier in the week.
However, the hacker and/or accomplices have been releasing the information from all the hacks online over the last few months.
The teen is suspected of being the leader of a group of hackers who call themselves “Crackas with Attitude” or CWA. Friends and associates of “Cracka,” the suspect’s online moniker, told Motherboard Thursday there would be repercussions for the arrest.

kids are born now knowing computer technology in the womb...nothing strange about brilliant hackers without the emotional maturity to be quiet about it. LOL I always take for granted that the government has some agencies that are dedicated to 'observation'. I combat this by doing nothing wrong. They might even be joining the 'experiments' from time to time..how exciting is that!! Why should we make a stir over what has been for years and will continue to be? I have something messing with my computer at night...when I put it to sleep and shut off my keyboard and shut off my mouse..it boots up on it's own about 3 0r 4...and nope it's not got any kind of programming in the sleep program to do so. Last night..it just shut itself off. Interesting to see how this develops

I've checked all that out Auntie..no command lines anywhere...so...makes me think someone is playing and wanting it to be known because I sleep in the same room and the light on the screen wakes me up. It might be a subtle message that something will happen about that time..eh..guess I'll find out

Anything that they care about is encrypted. All data that was "hacked" would've been run of the mill crap they couldn't care less about. These people aren't idiots, and when it comes to sensitive data, are well ahead of the curve when it comes to protection. I highly suggest anyone on here do the same for any sensitive data that y'all may have. For computers, simply Google, "How to encrypt " X" OS hardrive, IE Windows 7etc." Smartphones, Google for Windows or iPhone, I have no first hand knowledge on those. For Android, tap "settings", " security ", and " Encrypt phone". This will make your phone completely unhakable. The experts here will agree, as there is simply no way to decode anything that is encrypted. Only the person who has encrypted the device or data holds the key, as each individual encryption is a foreign code only accessible to whom and whoever holds the key, which will be your password. Now, for communication via phone calls and text messages, the best app, Android again I don't use Windows or iPhone, is Signal- play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.thoughtcrime.securesmsWhen the Patriot Act was passed, any and all calls and text messages are subject to interception, and recording. This very app is used by our very own politicians for text messages and calls that are confidential. You're welcome.

Dayum...I'd better rush to encode those secret recipes of mine..the caramel cheesecake especially!!! OMG I do not want that in the wrong hands. I HAVE no sensitive data and want none. I don't leave things ANY things on my computer that I dont want family or anyone else to see..because..it's just plain stupid to do that. People have been shot by wives or husbands because of what the other left on his or her computer. Before a person does something 'secretive' they need to weigh it in their wee brain. Is it worth it if I get nailed for this? Because...the impossible happens all the time

I my line of work, I have to store VERY sensitive customer info on all of my devices. SS#s, CCs etc. You would be surprised what someone can dig out of your hard drive. Every bought anything online? A savvy enough hacker can grab all the information from any of those transactions, even if you think it was all deleted and gone. You would be shocked what someone with the right skillset, and wrong motives can and will dig up from your hard drive, phone, tablet, you name it. So I would think twice before you jump to the conclusion that grandma's famous meatloaf recipe is all they would be able to access.

Further more I use those encryption apps and methods to protect my customers private info. Not to plot anything, or get away with illegal activities.

Goodness I'm not nearly that naive. I worked in a sensitive line of work for years but that was several computers ago. Besides..her meatloaf was dreadful. I do know exactly what hackers can do and do do. BUT I was referring more to government eavesdropping. If you're not part of secret plots or secret societies..you're probably not of a lot of interest. If you regularly use some of their 'words of interest' then you'll cross their radar. Think they're interested in UFO sightings or crazy abduction accounts or the ones canvasing your neighborhood? Actually..this is one of the best maintained ongoing conspiracy theories alive today..the UFO's. No proof just some smudged photos..eye witness accounts. Thing is what does it matter to anyone? We know they're batting around out there..popping closer now and then but what does it matter? Why would it matter even if the government admitted they entertained them for tea? Think anyone would bother to or could...stop them from messing around with people? My abduction happened over 40 years ago and was identical to most today. Considerably less horrific than Travis Walton's. Today..the government would be a lot more interested in terrorist trip words than what goes on in here...and with very good cause to be concerned. There are not many UFO suicide bombers. Paranoia doesn't help anyone. Good common sense might. Now if they need a good psychic or so so remote viewer I might be in trouble

And Y'all still wanna do your banking online?
and 'paperless' shouldn't be synonomous with 'people-less', because it ain't good for laborers. Gotta have jobs to buy burritos here in the United States of Mexico.
Yep, that's what all those pigs..err corporations, want, just robots answering the phones, via voicemail-jail, and the InterNet. Four guys in a huge corporation, raking in the dough from their over-priced products, with no employees, just them. People-Less.

Well.....if we were big corporate moguls..we might favor robots instead of humanoids. This IS the way the world is and it's not likely to get better...and IF the conspiracy theorists ran the world..it would just be more paranoid. Lizzard folk from inner earth are not likely to slither up here and take over the government and there aren't enough anarchists..so..elect the idiot of choice and just go with it. If a person is so terrified by government infiltration and or internet hacking or UFO invasion then by all means find a cave..line it with foil and exist in your own little vacuum. It'll still catch up eventually.

It is a large NO NO in my husbands book. I guess I will not be so hard on him now.
