I know that global warming and the ozone layer over the south pole is one of those touchy subjects for some..actually I'm fairly convinced it's real but has been exploited out of context by the 'over exuberant'. It 's a fact that we have a hole in the ozone layer..makes sense to me that it would not only effect the weather but also make our sun more of a threat as it comes out of it's dormancy cycle. onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_8813.shtml

I have several issues concerning the hole in the ozone layer.
The main issue I have with this recent discovery is that as soon as we were able to detect such a thing as the "Ozone Layer" we discovered that it had a hole in it. As far as anybody knows, the hole may have been there forever. How do we know there wasn't a hole there millions and millions of years ago? There is no way of knowing for certain.
That would be like meeting a man with one arm and asking him what happened to his other arm.
He might just smile and say, "I never had another arm. I was born this way. It's weird to me that you have two arms."

I think the 'ozone hole' was first discovered, and later confirmed by further investigation by peer scientists in Antarctica in the late 1970's. Since the adoption and strengthening of the Montreal Protocol - reductions in the emissions of CFCs, atmospheric concentrations of the most significant compounds have been declining. These substances are being gradually removed from the atmosphere—since peaking in 1994. Complete recovery of the Antarctic ozone layer is not expected to occur until the year 2050 or later, with ozone levels recovering to 1980 levels by around 2068. So the Ozone hole over Antarctica does exist, and a direct cause and effect relationship between CFC's and the protective Ozone layer effecting it either way has been demonstrated. Since the Montreal Protocol, seems things are now going in the right direction. Steve en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozone_depletion
