If you're looking for pictures of debris or government photos, you're apt to be disappointed. But what the museum does have are various newspaper and radio reports from July 1947, along with replicas of the debris and depositions from those involved. One piece of the puzzle came from Homer Rowlette Jr., an Army sergeant who helped with cleanup at the crash site. His "confession" — as an exhibit describes it — came on his deathbed: "I saw three little people. They had large heads and at least one was alive." Rancher Mack Brazel told reporters he discovered the wreckage and alien remains on the morning of July 5. The story, with details provided by Haut, broke in the Roswell Daily Record three days later. The following day, however, the military did an about-face. The debris had been taken to an Army air field near Fort Worth . . .. TO CONTINUE READING CLICK ON ABOVE LINKS

I visited the UFO museum when I went to Roswell on my vacation last month. It was the second time I had been there, the first being many years ago. I have to admit I was a little bit disappointed the first time, although I don't know what I was expecting to see in a UFO museum...maybe a crashed flying saucer hanging from the ceiling or a real live dead alien in a display case? All they had were a few displays on the wall talking about a few of the famous UFO cases. You could have picked up any book on the subject and learned more about UFOs than what they had in that museum. It was not very impressive. My latest visit was much more enjoyable. The walls are now covered with all sorts of different things like photos, letters from witnesses, some of the original publications from the old UFO investigative agencies. They also had some other interesting stuff on display like one of the plastic dummies that the Air Force dropped from planes into the desert that some people claim might explain the stories of "alien" bodies. (I don't see how though ) One of the most interesting things that I saw was a piece of the plastic casings similar to that the Project Mogul balloons were made of. That was one of the main things I was hoping to find on my trip. I wanted to see if the plastic material in any way at all resembled the description of the debris that witnesses to the original Roswell crash were describing. It did not. The small piece of plastic they had on display was blackened and torn and looked like a thin piece of leather. I don't remember any witness describing anything like that. Another interesting thing they had was a big flying saucer hanging from the ceiling with life-size aliens standing around it. I thought it was just a display for the tourists until it decided to come to life...sort of. What happened is I was poking around looking at all of the photos when I suddenly heard a high-pitched metallic whining sound followed by a low, throbbing base sound. Smoke started belching out of the flying saucer, a bright light came on and the "aliens" started moving! It was all done with animatronics of course but it kind of caught me off guard. I had no idea the thing moved. What I found the most interesting about it was the sounds that they chose to use. They were both very similar to what I remember from my own encounter. Not exactly the same, but similar. I thought that was kind of cool. I took some photos while I was at the museum and I will post some of them very soon.

Here are some of the photos that I took while at the museum in Roswell. The big sign with the alien dude on it is a painting that appears on some U-haul trucks. They have a lot more displays set up now than what they used to have. These are some photos of UFOs along with some hand-written letters from eye-witnesses. This is a nice collection of publications from UFO investigative agencies from around the world. This is one of the dummies dropped from planes by the Air Force in the 1950s. It was loaned to the museum by the nearby Air Force base in Alamogordo. I thought that was very nice of them. This is that crazy UFO/alien display that came to life and started spitting out smoke and lights and weird sounds. Some of the aliens were even moving! All automated of course. The aliens don't exactly look like anything I have ever seen either. I'm not sure where they got that design from.

You never know about those government people. Notice how the dummy's jacket is open even though he is not wearing one. They actually molded that into the plastic for some reason.

I always wanted to see inside this place, I had some it on vhs live videos but it is too hard to search for. and you cannot study it as you can a still photo.. You see they got the legs right at least, I think that video I put on is not grays legs at all.
thanks for posting .. I forgot you said you were heading to Roswell, nice of you to share these. How be is it inside, one room or many rooms? Is there any room where they show videos of ufos something like that?

It is a pretty big building. It looks like it used to be a movie theater or something so there is a lot of room inside. They do have a room where they show videos and movies also. They also have a gift shop where they selol souviners and stuff and there is a research department there also where they do reasearch on things related to the Roswell crash.
I went in to ask them about the pieces of debris they recently found out there and at first they would not say anything. They were so tight-lipped about it I thought I had accidentally wandered into MUFON Headquarters, but they finally gave me a little bit of info.
I think they are doing a good job with the museum so far. It is much better than it used to be.

One of my goals in life is to own my own museum. That is something I have wanted to do since I was a tiny little dude, ever since I first started collecting coins and stamps and fossils. Now, decades later I have a storage unit filled with boxes and boxes of stuff like autographs, sports memorabilia, rocks and minerals and all sorts of cool stuff. My goal is getting closer to being accomplished. I think what I am going to do is build a small museum for each of the things that I collect, that way it won't cost a gazillion dollars and I might actually be able to afford to do it. Maybe I will even have a museum about UFOs and other paranormal phenomenon. That would be cool! Of course this is all still a little ways into the future but I will get it done someday.

Neil Armstrong Space MuseumI just recently visited the Neil Armstrong Space Museum in Wapakoneta, Ohio which is Neil's hometown. He was born on his grandparent's farm which is just a few miles outside of town. His houses are not open to the public but the Museum tells a lot about his life and some of his personal artifacts on display. The museum is operated by the Ohio Historical Society and was never officially connected to Neil in any way although he and his family did donate quite a few of the displays to it. I made sure to take lots of pictures as I was wandering aimlessly around it. I hope you enjoy some of them. This is the Museum from the front. The big round thingy is a theater that shows a movie about the Moon landing. The building was designed to look like a Moon rising above a mountain range. It kind of looks like I am on the surface of the Moon with all of that snow. Was probably just as cold too. This is a Douglas FSD Skylancer which was built in the late 1950s to help train the astronauts for a program called Dyna-Soar which was to be the launch of a winged space craft that could re-enter the Earth's atmosphere and glide to alanding...which is what the space shuttle eventually did several decades later. There were only four of these aircraft ever built and this is the only one that remains in existence. It was flown by Armstrong from 1960 to 62. Notice the official NASA emblem painted on the side. Inside there are plenty of exhibits on Neil and the other astronauts as well as the space race and Moon landings in general. Ohio seems to be a popular place for astronauts to originate from. More astronauts came from Ohio than any other state. Here is one of the Gemini Space capsules. IMG]http://i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h352/dodgetexan/armstrongmuseum-3.jpg[/IMG] This was Neil's backup space suit. It weighs 190 pounds on Earth but only 32 pounds on the moon. A Moon rock. How I would love to have one of these for my collection. Do you think they would notice if I slipped it into my pocket? This makes a lousy photo but was very cool in real life. It was a small darkened room with a walkway with mirrors on all sides of it and little lights strung up to look like stars in outer space. It made it look like it went on and on forever. Very creative for museum people. Here is one of those Fisher Space Pens that I wrote an earlier article about. This was my favorite exhibit in the whole museum. (I know I'm silly ) It is a tire that was on the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1994. I don't know why but I just thought it was really cool to be able to actually touch something that was on the Space Shuttle. And a tire is something I can relate to because I use them myself all the time. Of course I'm sure they probably didn't want me touching the thing but I couldn't help it. I even rolled it around a little bit. Do you think they would miss it if I accidentally rolled it out the front door and down the street?
