Yeah, I'm going to make an effort to stay up for this! Yawn..... It's past my bedtime, but everything I've read says it'll be worth it.

I really liked the premier of falling skies. Naturally Spielberg would do some very good casting for the parts and the acting was really good. I also thought the introduction by the children was an effective way to start it. The aliens are positively nasty (which is good for an enemy, who wants to shoot handsome evil aliens?) and the hero's are very human. I think it has potential

I watched it, and I liked it. If nothing else, it is something to watch on Sunday night other than Wild Kingdom.

I DVR'd it but havnt got around to watching it yet. If any one get BBC America , they have a new show on called Outcasts thats pretty good. Its about the last survivor's from humanity starting over on a new planet.

I can't watch Falling Skies because I am on the road all of the time. Does anybody want to tell me what happened in the first episode? What's it about? What's going on? What do the aliens look like? Where do they come from?

It opened with children relating what had happened, how the aliens landed, took out the military and major cities then killed adults and captured children using them as slaves and putting 'harness' devices (look like a cross between a slug and a lobster fixed to the base of the brain) to control them. People die if they are removed. The remaining adults (along with their children) have formed a resistance to fight them, led by military fighters. Food supplies are very low as are guns and ammo. Noah Wylie is a history professor turned militant..one of his sons is captured and harnessed. He has a young son and one who is 18 and a scout for the resistance..their overall objective is to provide safety for the civilians traveling with them and secondary..to get his son back. Along the way they run into a group of Mad Max types who take Wylie and his team hostage. Looks like their leader will end up joining the resistance. The aliens: One they call a skitter..looks like a cross between an octopus and the face of the alien in Preditor they created robots which are huge and human-like (two arms two legs) and are called Mechs. They can be killed with explosives and the skitters are vulnerable to guns up close. They have 'fighter' type ships and a big base. It looks like the resistance will be infiltrating it soon. The robots use laser weapons, the fighters drop bombs that burst into fire and have shock waves. From the looks of it..future episodes will be devoted to capturing a skitter to figure out how to get the 'harnesses' off of people and to understand what they want. That's pretty much it Sky..it had some really good acting. It matters a lot how the characters interact and they did well. The aliens were appropriately ugly enough to want to kill and the special effects are Spielberg good

They're pretty ugly but Spielberg's point seems to be...everything has it's vulnerability. One of Noah Wylie's lines was that throughout history if the resistance makes enough nuisance of itself the invading force decides it's not worth it and goes home. It's a good conquer's evil at a price thing.
