The Sound of an Abduction?
Millions of people all over the world have seen UFOs. There have been thousands of photos and videos taken and the descriptions that people give of them have become so prevalent throughout our society that even the most uninformed layperson would be able to describe the basic characteristics of what a UFO might look like. Sightings of unidentified flying objects have become almost too common, but how many people have gotten close enough to hear the sound that a UFO makes?
There are a lot of people who claim to have been abducted by beings from these strange flying objects and they usually come in pretty close proximity to the craft during the process. Unfortunately, amidst all of the the stories of little gray men and the painfully intrusive experiments that they reportedly conduct on people, some important details of the encounters are often overlooked--sounds being one of them. Most people are too terrified during their ordeal to remember them.
In August of 1988 I had what could be described as a typical abduction experience, or at least as typical as alleged alien abductees describe their experiences. There is usually a bright light filling up the room, a feeling of paralysis, and then the helpless person mysteriously floats up into the air.
I experienced all of those things but I remember a few other details that went along with it. For instance, I remember that the beam of light as it came through my window was coming down at an angle, as if the source of it were something up in the air. I remember the color of the light was an intense bright white with just a hint of a bluish tint to it...kind of like a camera flash that remained on constantly. The light was the brightest light I had ever seen and it caused the air inside the room to have a fuzzy look to it, like the very air molecules themselves were being illuminated. It was an amazing sight to see.
One of the more unique aspects of my experience was the sound that I heard. Actually it might be better to say sounds, because there were two of them. The first was a very high-pitched mechanical whining sound, kind of like a jet turbine engine. This was a constant sound that I heard throughout the initial part of my experience and I would assume it was the sound of the craft's power source as it hovered outside my window. I never actually saw any craft so that is just an assumption. The second sound I heard happened right as I began to levitate up into the air. It was a very low-pitched electrical throbbing sound that reminded me of an electrical transformer, definitely technological in origin. It was like somebody pushed a button or pulled a lever and up I went. And not only could I hear the sound but I could feel it as well. It resonated in vibrating waves that I felt all through my body. I guess it is something that would have to be heard and felt in order to understand what I am talking about.
Everything about my experienced led me to believe I was being abducted by a UFO. In fact, the first thing I did when I regained the ability to move after the light went out was to jump out of bed and rush to the window and see if anything was outside. There was nothing there, in the sky or on the ground. No cars, no flying saucers...no swamp gas or weather balloons either. There was nothing at all out of the ordinary, but everything about the incident, including the testimony of me best friend who related having the exact same experience that same night, convinced me that it really had happened. I think it is possible I really was abducted.
Even though I remained a skeptic for the next two decades while I desperately sought to find a rational scientific explanation for what happened, and even though I have heard countless scores of skeptics dismiss the abduction stories as nothing more than sleep paralysis or hallucinations, I am convinced that something extraordinary did happen to my friend and I that night. How else could two people have the exact same experience at the same time?
Having experienced these things for myself I now find myself in a unique position to understand and relate to the fantastic experiences of others. When people describe the sights, sounds and feelings of a UFO/alien encounter they may be dismissed by skeptics as raving lunatics but I am able to pick up on things that may otherwise seem totally insignificant. These tiny little details by themselves might be meaningless, but to me they stand out as confirmation that not only did my own experience happen, but it is happening to others as well.
For example, there are many people on the Edge of Reality forum who have reported having abduction experiences. I have been reading through these experiences for the past several months now and I just noticed something interesting. There is a commonality that exists in several of the experiences, one that an outsider might not take notice of. It has to do with the sound that a UFO makes while engaging in an abduction.
A very nice lady who goes by the name of Jokelly is one of our forum members and she has related tales of an experience that she remembers happening while she and a friend were out riding their horses. Although she states that the exact events that occurred are very foggy it ended up with several hours of missing time, two young girls riding the wrong horses, a "burn" on her neck and memories of a horrible experience involving strange gray beings.
Though her memories of a lot of things about the experience are unclear, one of the things she does remember is the sound. "It was a deep 'thrumming' bass...I actually felt like it was vibrating my chest bone," She wrote. "There was a deep (bone-vibrating) thrumming coming from all around us. The closest thing I've heard to it is an Australian didgeridoo...and there was a deep electric blue light."
This is actually very similar to what a lot of abductees remember. The deep thrumming sound...the electric blue light...If I were open to conjecture, based on my own experiences and those of other people whom I have read about, I would guess that this is what happens at the very start of an abduction. The light apparently is what picks people up and the sound is the machinery that does it.
It is interesting that she would compare it to the sound of a didgeridoo, a primitive wind instrument used by the aboriginal people of Australia. Not many people even know what a didgeridoo is, much less what it sounds like.
Here is a video clip showing a musical demonstration of a didgeridoo...
That definitely is a haunting sound.
Another experiencer on the forum is a fascinating woman from Illinois named Lois, whom also sometimes goes by the screen name of Shamira. I affectionately call her Shami for short. She also has a strange tale to relate about a UFO sighting that occurred back in 1972.
She says that she saw a huge unidentifiable craft hovering in the air over the street in front of her house, and a bright green beam of light shining down to the ground. She was so amazed by the sight she was seeing that she even left the safety of her house and walked outside to get a closer look at the strange thing.
"I was sure I would figure it out if I studied it long enough," she said, "but right then I felt these vibrations under my feet, a sound so faint you could hardly hear it, but I felt it. It got deeper and louder with each second. It started going up my body and the cheeks on my face felt like they were vibrating..
NOW IS THE TIME TO GO...so I starting walking again with my back to it. All the while this thing is speeding up, a deep sound and still coming in waves. I did not run...I tried to stay cool, like I would sneak slowly out of sight..I just had to turn around, to check, it was only because Barney and Betty come into my mind...that I will remember thinking of the rest of my life..
When I got near my house I could still feel the waves. I looked one last time before I was going to run up to the curb and onto the porch , which was only 12 ft from the city sidewalk, but when I turned I was up in the yard across the street, covered in the light .. I forgot about the waves .. I was terrified, if I got in the beam without knowing it they had got me.. the rest is missing time between those two points."
She goes on to describe the experience some more. "What the sound was doing to my body was more terrifying than the sound waves. I have never heard an identical sound since..I've come close many times. It was a little like a neon sign makes.
Crazy aliens would have let me look all night if I had not run.. they knew they could nab me anytime... but like I say, it was deep like a moan. I've never heard a sound that quiet where you can feel it vibrate you this way and yet the audio was so faint.. Some Power!!!"
She said the sound was a little like that which a neon sign makes. Here is a video of a neon sign.
Another experience that I recently heard of where a sound was involved was an incident that was related by Richard Lang, a former MUFON chief investigator, State Director and STAR team manager, and current founder of a new UFO agency named ARIRA. During an interview on the Kate Valentine UFO show he told the tale of a man who was driving a car in New Jersey when he spotted a brightly lit UFO in the air coming toward him. As it got over his car the engine died and all of the power suddenly went out. He could hear the UFO up above him and described it as the "purring of a cat." This fellow also may have ended up with some missing time.
I found a video of a cat that was purring as an illustration of the sound.
I bring this last case up simply because when I heard him describe the sound of the UFO as a cat purring it suddenly dawned on me that I knew exactly what he was talking about. In fact, I knew what each of these witnesses were describing because the sound that they heard is the same sound that I heard during my experience. I have always described it as an electrical sound like a transformer because that is what it reminded me of.
Here is a video to illustrate what I am talking about. Listen especially at the :28 second and 1:23 mark when the transformers come on line. That is the sound that I remember hearing right as I started floating up in the air.
That is not the type of sound anybody would ever forget, especially if they start floating up in the air when they hear it! It is also not the type of sound that would be heard under normal circumstances of daily living. It is something that is very distinctive...kind of like a didgeridoo would be.
So here we have four different people with four different experiences, and they all describe a sound they heard in four different ways...a purring cat, an Australian didgeridoo, a neon sign and an electrical transformer...but the sounds are all eerily similar. Could this be confirmation that the events they described not only occurred but also were similar in nature? Could this be evidence that alien abductions really are taking place? Possibly. I personally think it is some very interesting evidence that could easily have been overlooked by an outside investigator who might not have recognized the similarities in the sounds from the descriptions that were given. It's little things like this that we need to start paying closer attention to if we are ever going to solve the mysteries of the abduction phenomenon.
I guess being an abductee has its advantages after all. I never would have made the connection myself if I had not had the personal experience of hearing that sound, and regardless of whether or not I ever find out what really happened on that night I know one thing for certain...the sound of an abduction is something that I will never forget!
