Brazilian Baby Born With 2 HeadsPublished December 21, 2011 A ocorrência é rara e acontece, geralmente, por problemas genéticos (Foto: J.R. Avelar)ANAJAS, Brazil – A baby boy with two perfectly formed heads was born in Brazil this week, the country's media reported. The 10.1-pound baby was delivered by emergency C-section early Monday in Anajas, in the northeastern Para State. "And for us, it was a great surprise to find out that the child was in really good health." The mother did not have any ultrasound exams during her pregnancy and was made aware of the baby's condition only a few moments before the birth. The infant shares one heart and one set of vital organs, but both heads have started nursing normally, doctors told the media. Joseph Brazil, the obstetrician responsible for the delivery, said the child has "an amazing appetite." Neila Dahas, obstetrician and gynecologist at the Santa Casa de Misericordia Hospital, said the baby was born with two heads as a result of "a delay in the division of the egg." "I want her [the mother] to understand that she does not have a monstrous son, a son with two heads, but she has two sons." The mother named them Emanoel and Jesus. Dahas said that it "would be absolutely impossible" to separate the two heads as their body shares a liver, heart, lungs and pelvis. www.foxnews.com/health/2011/12/21/brazilian-baby-born-with-two-heads/

That is too weird. I couldn't even imagine living with two heads. One of me is bad enough. I wonder how this child is going to live? Which brain is going to control the movements of the body? Will they be fighting with each other for control or will they learn to coexist? Too weird...

There is a conjoined twin set that are now in their late teens or twenties. They were in the US and like this conjoined baby/babies there was no hope of separating them. I was fascinated because the girls were pretty well covered in the news - and they had very different personalities. One wanted to dive into the pool and the other not so much. One was shier and less talkative than the other. However they LEARNED TO COOPERATE. No one thought they would be able to walk but by age 8 they were riding a bicycle, swimming, throwing balls, and making friends in public school. Somehow they managed to "put together" the intricate movements needed to walk and bike in a coordinated manner. ESP? Scientists were baffled by their progress.
I wish the same for these babies. They are "stuck with each other" but that doesn't have to mean that they won't have an interesting life.

I wonder if they share knowledge? I mean if one brain learns something would it automatically be transferred to the other? Or just think about how much they could learn if they work together...a book in each hand with both of them reading at the same time. Straight As in school for sure.
