I remain "on the fence" until science comes up with a legitimate explanation for these ancient structures throughout the world. It seems incredible to me that our ancestors had better building technology then what we still have today to be capable to produce structures at this level of expertise and astronomical alignment. What I find the most intriguing of all is the fact that the pyramids built by the mayan culture is almost 1/2 the size and nearly identical to the egyptian pyramids on the other side of the planet, especially when these two cultures were on almost opposite sides of the planet ! Amazing ! Not to mention the capabilities they had to move these large stones which is mind boggling trying to understand even with today's technology and equipment.

A lot of ancient technology has been lost over the years. Some of it is just now being rediscovered. You have to remember that ancient humans living thousands of years ago were just as intelligent as humans are today. They had the same capacity for knowledge and learning that we have, they just applied it in different areas. Ancient society may seem primitive by our technological standards but they were way advanced in other areas like spirituality and the natural world...and some of their technology we still haven't figured out.

I dun believe it... What is even harder to believe is the abydos scene built by Ramses II and Seti 1 in Egypt. Any explanations , viewpoints, or opinions ? Ive heard some try to say its caused by palimpsest but I dunno ,,,,,,,,, looks like a helicopter, an airplane, possibly a submarine, vimana, or,,,,,,, dunno It appears to me that they knew something futuristic perhaps? It looks convincing enough to me !! This is probably the most extraordinary find to date when it comes to heiroglyphics Imo . upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9d/Hieroglif_z_Abydos.jpgI also put this in the illusions and perspectives thread that swamprat had posted. Please let me know what you think of this. Is it just an image overlay, or did the egyptians know about futuristic machinery ? This is incredible to me. If it is just an illusion,,,its a good one Imo !!. Keep in mind this is thousands of years old !

I'm not sure what to make of it. It does seem to portray some futuristic looking vehicles but there is no telling what the things really are. Egyptian heiroghlyphs didn't always mean what they look like. Then again, they were a very advanced culture. There is some evidence that they knew the principles of electricity and the aerodynamics of flight so who knows?

Here is an article about a small wooden model "airplane" that was found in a tomb in ancient Egypt. The model was built more than 2000 years ago and it actually will fly so it could either be a toy airplane or a small version of something they planned on building. www.bibliotecapleyades.net/esp_aviones_precolom02.htm

Who said so? They studied birds, made papyrus. Perhaps ancient man's real problem was only preserving it's historical knowledge - and arrogant modern man's real problem is it's many 'dark ages' long since it seems helll bent on imposing on itself - forced to re-learn all over again. It's possible it could have been from visions of Egyptian psychics as well... who really knows for sure? The wikipedia article says the only reason they look the way they do is because of "erosion" Yea... sure...

Things likes this always seem to be able to relate to movies or TV shows, Is this a coincidence? I mean, Stargate SG1 These pyramids were used as landing sites for Alien Motherships and the ring transport they have allows matter to be transferred from a ship to a pyramid. And it travels via a beam of light which directs from the ship straight to the highest point of the pyramid. Very interesting, Not saying that this is the case here, But sure does open my imagination.

I watched on youtube a video about a guy who actually built a model of one of these (the pre columbian one)and flew it. He said it worked better then most planes he has built ! I dont think for a minute that these were some type of insect that some claim them to be because there isnt an insect in existence that has wings shaped that way. The one in that article shown from Egypt was probably (I assume) thrown off of the top of a pyramid to test aerodynamics. Thats always been my thought on that one. Thanks for posting !

Another possibility regarding the Egyptian airplane model is that somebody came up with the idea for the plane and built the model to test it and see if it would actually fly. It is possible he may have been working on a larger one even...kind of like a version of a glider that could have been launched off the top of a mountain. I keep saying that ancient people were just as intelligent as we are today. They could imagine things just as easily as we can. Our science fiction writers and scientists have been coming up with things like space ships and time machines and rockets and all sorts of other futuristic inventions for centuries and many of those seemingly crazy ideas have actually been built. I believe Jules Verne once wrote a book about sending a rocket to the Moon and if I remember correctly in the book the rocket was actually launched from Florida while the Mission Control was in Houston...you can't get much more prophetic than that. Let's also not forget Leonardo da Vinci, who in my opinion was way ahead of his time. Not only did he build a working steam engine and models of all sorts of machinery that could have been powered by it, but he also designed a helicopter that many people believe actually would have flown. Da Vinci could have revolutionized the world with his inventions but he was never allowed to build full-sized versions of them because he didn't have the funds and the rulers wouldn't allow it. They didn't see any practical purpose for such silly things as steam engines and helicopters and considered it a waste of time to be building such "toys." The same thing almost happened to the automobile and the airplane. Both were almost outlawed by the government because they were loud, dangerous and they scared the heck out of the horses and cows (not to mention people who had never seen them). The politicians running the government did not see any way that a car or airplane would ever have any practical purpose...they thought they were just toys for wealthy men to waste their money on. Luckily other people didn't think so, otherwise we would still be riding around on horses and wagons. I think that inventions like these have probably been in the minds of men for thousands of years, and there have probably been many attempts to build them. Some may have been more successful than others. The only reason we don't know about them is because that knowledge, like a lot of other ancient info, has been lost over time. Like Steve said, ancient man's biggest problem may have been not being able to preserve its knowledge. We may never know why that model plane was built or what the pyramids were really for simply because nobody wrote it down.

Since I read these post earlier, I remember and old story I once read . I finally found it. ANCIENT EGYPTIAN TREASURES IN THE GRAND CANYON Suppressed Archeological Information and Metaphysical Paradox ? Barry McEwen TETRA-MATRIX@prodigy.net Phoenix, Arizona November 30, 2000 On April 5th, 1909, there appeared a front page story in the Arizona Gazette. It told of an archeological expedition in the heart of the Grand Canyon funded by the Smithsonian Institute. (a full transcription of the article can be found at: www.keelynet.com/unclass/canyon.txt) It is a rich story of finding a labyrinth of man-made tunnel systems high above the Colorado River, a virtual citadel filled with ancient artifacts, hieroglyphs, armor, statues of deities and even mummies. Anyone contacting the Smithsonian Institute will receive a polite "no records found" reply to an inquiry about their supposed role in the Grand Canyon. The following narration shows how I came to be convinced of an exact location in the Grand Canyon that is a key to this story (regardless of whether the newspaper article is a hoax or not), and contains mathematical proof. This story also reveals an ancient cartographic code that led me to this conclusion, and the meaningful coincidences that unfolded as I pursued this mystery. The location is known as "Isis Temple" and is paramount in a well kept secret that is just now being uncovered in ways far richer and more important than material wealth. The cherished gem of Arizona, the Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, contains a legacy and a link to a history known only by a few; suppressed not only by greed and politics, but by a forgotten code hidden right beneath our very feet. It is all beginning to come to light now. I first came across the information about the newspaper article in 1998 via the www. To satisfy my curiosity, I went to the Phoenix Public Library, found the article on microfilm and made a few photo copies of it. I didn't give it too much thought at the time, other than mentioning it from time to time to people who attend free speaking engagements and classes I offer. As a 30 year independent researcher in the field of sacred geometry, (sometimes known also as hyper-dimensional geometry, living geometry, and alchemical geometry) and other related subjects, I found the topic relating to Egypt synchronistic, since a lot of my studies revolved around the ancient schools of thought and geometry of sacred sites and temples of Egypt. Like others, I thought it was rather odd, if indeed the article was not a hoax, that evidence of ancient Egyptians would be found in Arizona, of all places!..... After all, the Egyptians did not explore the Americas, everyone knew that, and it was not taught in any school. We thought this also of the ancient Romans, until ancient Roman headgear, armor, swords, coins and other artifacts were found just North of Tucson, not far from Interstate 10 !

Here is the link to the complete story.. What a mystery? I always loved History and also digging up the past since childhood. I do not remember how long ago I read this but it had to be when I was in my 30s or less. www.cyberspaceorbit.com/text/0000tx09x.html

Darn .. I posted the wrong article. I enjoyed this one much more. Sorry.. Feature Articles Canyonitis: Seeing evidence of ancient Egypt in the Grand Canyon Is there, within the Grand Canyon, an enigmatic system of tunnels that is evidence of an ancient Egyptian voyage to America? Is it all bogus? Or is the truth most likely somewhere in between? Philip Coppens On April 5, 1909, a front page story in the Arizona Gazette reported on an archaeological expedition in the heart of the Grand Canyon funded by the Smithsonian Institute, which had resulted in the discovery of Egyptian artefacts. April 5 is close to April 1 – but then not quite… so perhaps the story could be true? Nothing since has been heard of this discovery. Today, over five million tourists visit the Grand Canyon each year. You would thus expect that if anything was hidden in the canyons, it would thus since long have been uncovered. However, most tourists only spend around 3 hours of time at the canyon, usually visiting the legendary South Rim view around mile 89, where most of the best and oldest tourist facilities are located. Furthermore, some have said that the entire discovery has since become the centre of a major cover-up, apparently in an effort to maintain the old status quo, which is that the ancient Egyptians never ventured outside of the tranquil waters of the river Nile. The original story goes that the team found an underground network of tunnels, high above the Colorado River, containing various ancient artefacts, statues and even mummies. A major discovery, no doubt about it. Impossible to slip off the archaeological radar. Still, the Smithsonian Institute will report it has no records on the subject. So what happened? To find out, there is only one guide: the article itself. Though the article was anonymous, it did identify some of the archaeologists involved: “under the direction of Prof. S. A. Jordan", with Smithsonian-backed adventurer G. E. Kinkaid, who then relates his findings. But the story gets weirder when the Smithsonian stated that it had no Kinkaid or Jordan on record. In one enquiry from 2000, the institution replied: “The Smithsonian Institution has received many questions about an article in the April 5, 1909 Phoenix Gazette about G. E. Kincaid and his discovery of a 'great underground citadel' in the Grand Canyon, hewn by an ancient race 'of oriental origin, possibly from Egypt.' […] The Smithsonian's Department of Anthropology, has searched its files without finding any mention of a Professor Jordan, Kincaid, or a lost Egyptian civilization in Arizona. Nevertheless, the story continues to be repeated in books and articles.” There is room for a cover-up, of course, as some have argued. The files do not necessarily have to set within that department’s and the reference to the Phoenix Gazette rather than Arizona Gazette could be a simple error, or an escape valve that is so often present in official replies engineered to debunk. Stories like “the CIA Division X has no record” often means that Division Y is the one who has that record. So, there is no Professor Jordan, and Kinkaid himself was more than difficult to pin down. However, on March 12 of the same year, the Gazette had reported on an earlier phase of Kincaid's adventure: “G. E. Kincaid Reaches Yuma.” Here, Kinkaid is identified as being from “Lewiston, Idaho”; he “arrived in Yuma after a trip from Green River, Wyoming, down the entire course of the Colorado River. He is the second man to make this journey and came alone in a small skiff, stopping at his pleasure to investigate the surrounding country. He left Green River in October having a small covered boat with oars, and carrying a fine camera, with which he secured over 700 views of the river and canyons which were unsurpassed. Mr. Kincaid says one of the most interesting features of the trip was passing through the sluiceways at Laguna dam. He made this perilous passage with only the loss of an oar." The account is factual enough and seems to just that: fact. The article concludes: "Some interesting archaeological discoveries were unearthed and altogether the trip was of such interest that he will repeat it next winter in the company of friends." Less than a month later, the same newspaper seemed to continue their story where they had left it off: Kinkaid was now talking about his “interesting archaeological discoveries”, which consisted out of a series of tunnels and passages with a cross chamber near the entrance, containing a statue: "The idol almost resembles Buddha, though the scientists are not certain as to what religious worship it represents. Taking into consideration everything found thus far, it is possible that this worship most resembles the ancient people of Tibet." He also stated that he had found an unknown gray metal, resembling platinum, as well as tiny carved heads, scattered on the floor. Urns bore "mysterious hieroglyphics, the key to which the Smithsonian Institute hopes yet to discover." In another room he found mummies: "Some of the mummies are covered with clay, and all are wrapped in a bark fabric." Again, the account is quite factual. Idols “resemble” Buddha, rather than “are” Buddha. The worship “resembles” that of Tibet, not “is”… Kinkaid is trying to use analogies to explain his discovery. It is the anonymous author of the article who makes the connection with ancient Egypt and lets his mind float to one of the biggest discoveries of all time. Still, the newspaper apparently never followed up the story

Cliff , that is very interesting. I had never heard of ancient Christians in America. Any thing is possible. Caves in South America had sculptures of Elephants and all kinds of Animals.. Maybe the shifting of Continents were are lot later than man is led to believe. Only speculation.
We are warm today. you know what that means??? .

Most people aren't aware of it but the ancient people were able to sail across the oceans back and forth to and from the American continents. They could only sail in the direction that the wind was blowing though because of the way their sails were designed back then, so a round trip journey would have taken an entire year. They could have crossed the ocean in a few weeks but would have had to wait several months for the wind to shift directions before they could make the return trip. Because it was such a long and dangerous voyage it was usually only made accidentally when somebody got caught in a storm and blown out to sea and was unable to return to land.
The people on each of the different continets did know of the existence of each other though and they did a limited amount of trade. Some of the Egyptian mummies were found stuffed full of tobacco, which only grew in the Americas, and many ancient Chinese and Phoenecian artifacts have been discovered in the Americas. It is also well known and established that the Vikings also routinely travelled back and forth and even established colonies up in New Foundland.
It was shortly before Christopher Columbus journeyed to the Americas that sailing technology progressed to the point that ships could actually sail against the wind by tacking back and forth in a zig-zag pattern. Columbus didn't actually discover America...he just demonstrated that the trip could be made safely on a regular basis.
