There is a common animal that is never mentioned in the Bible. Do you know what it is?
Do you know what animal is mentioned in the Bible that is considered a fantasy creature?
King James Version:
The Book of Numbers 23 : 22
"God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn."

There are a lot of weird critters listed in the Bible. The Leviathan ( Job 41:1-41:34) is one and was supposed to be some weird type of humongous fire-breathing sea serpent, and another was the behemoth ( Job 40:15-24 ) which was supposedly a huge land dwelling animal with a "tail like a cedar tree" and "bones like brass and iron." Other mythical creatures like dragons, sirens and satyrs are also mentioned. Does this mean that these creatures really existed? Not necessarily. It could be that the people back then believed in the existence of some of these mythical creatures just the same as people of today, or maybe the real meaning of the words were lost when the Bible was being translated from the original Hebrew language. The world may never know for sure. Which common animal is it that is not mentioned, Jc? The duck-billed platypus? That would be common if you lived in Tazmania.

I have a Strongs Exhaustive Concordance which is a Bible dictionary of the Hebrew and Greek language translated in the English tongue. If anyone ever needs a word(s) looked up, let me know and Id be more than glad to do so.

Ha, ha sky. I wasn't going to DARE even debating the chance of belief in the Bible, and what it says. Btw, only the KJV has the translation of "unicorn". Other versions say a different animal.
Which, If I was going to debate anything here, it would be "things MISSING from the Bible" . Lost in translation.
The animal not mentioned, and I'd love to be proven wrong..... is the
elephant.

My son called me today, like he does often. We were talking about every topic on this forum and threads. He came up with something I had never heard before. A church down the street from my other son's home. Had a big poster out front of the church on a very busy street it read as follows.
Atheist is a non profitable organization. .. It may be true, but I sort never thought a church would put this on their markers. I guess it may not seem funny but it did to us. As we know all too well the statement is true. Our opinion of course, I'm not aiming it at anyone on this forum. Only to tell what he saw a few days ago..

I have seen some pretty interesting statements on church signs or "billboards" in their front lawns . Thanks, Lois!

Atheist is a non profitable organization. Churches are also non profitable organizations technically. I fail to see the irony in this... but then again I don't go to church so... ~shrug~ I think the weirdest sign on a church's billboard was one of the local Baptist Churches up here... they're pretty loony. My dad used to work with a guy who went to this church I'm talking about. The women are not allowed to wear pants when they go to church. Ever. No exceptions. Two days after September 11, 2001 their digital sign read, "Saddam Solution: Nuke him till he glows then shoot him in the dark." Yea. I'm sure Jesus would agree with that too... Crazy people... Edit: Not that I'm saying ALL baptists are crazy... just the ones who go to this one particular church...

I think y'all are missing the point about the sign about the athiests. When they say that "athiest is a non-profit organization" what they are implying is that if a person is an athiest they will not get the reward of going to heaven...which means they won't profit from it. It's just a clever little saying with a double meaning.

I haven't but I've been thinking lately I should. Actually..I've only read parts of the bible here and there..I never could handle the 'begats' for I really don't care whom begat whom in my ohhhhhhhh so far distant past. Revelations is my favorite..it 'fits'. I don't do churches..they confound the human spirit more than heal it I think..(me personally) but I think people are set upon the path they need to follow and the beliefs reflect accordingly. It's enough for me that I converse (at their discretion in their fashion) with angels and I know God has a hand in wherever I go whatever I do. It can be far different for others and perfectly fine too..no wrongs. That is where I dislike churches..it's THIS way or none..doesn't work in this universe..I am positive of that (at least not in mine) ;D We are a very diverse group here but for the most part we get along very well. Young and old. That's pretty cool

I've read large parts of the Bible, most of the Koran and the Egyptian Book of the Dead. I started reading the Book of Mormon but had to put it down after the second chapter where they said that the Native Americans were descendants from the lost tribes of Israel. The anthropologist in me just would not let me go on after that. (No offense intended to any Mormons who might be reading this of course) I never thought about looking for weird animals in any of them so I couldn't say if there were any or not. I suppose it might be listed on the internet somewhere if there were any. I'll take a peek around and see.

I also think it's cool the way this "thread" is going . It isn't just about animals. . . . please continue! I've read some other "religious-type" books. I love the history . People have mentioned religious books in relation to the "ufo phenomenon", and some of it is very interesting.

I think on pass forums, we sort of knew who are friends were. I mean like a contest with many runners in the game. Then the winners are picked from the rest. And more winners are picked from the latter, by time we were ready to leave JJ, it was not hard to do as we all thought along the same lines and understood much about the other guys very well and enjoyed their company. We are the best so to say.
All the rest is water under the bridge.. Some should be here on this forum but what can one do? Nothing is perfect. We only strive for that goal.
We could have one heck of a party if we ever got together in one room or attend the same party. That is the way I feel about most members here as I do not know everyone. But whoever stays here must find it very enjoyable.
Sky you got the best of the best..

I was watching a funny story on the 700 Club where these people got into a car accident and were trapped in their cars. Angles floated their bodies out of the car onto the grass before the cars went up in flames and there was a raibow in the sky afterward.

You gals/guys actually believe what is is written in the Bible? Beware of demons and don't question God. ;D Yes I believe in it, but it is interpreted so many ways . Too many words in the bible that have more than one meaning.. I try to read it as spiritual more than carnal. I would love to see some Archeologist find some miraculous site which pertains to the Bible, proof is not necessary for me. Life experiences tells a person, it is truth. There has been much found already. They say the shroud is proof . I'm not one to jump to any conclusion when it comes to the shroud.

Something I would love to share here., My nephew is 8 years younger than myself . I use to babysit with him when I was twelve years old. . He was a wild kid, drove me crazy most the time. I told my Mother " I'm not watching him one more day. It was summer and I was available,, Shortly after this summer he underwent heart surgery. It was touch and go whether they could save him. He pulled through and I know it was hard for my brother and his wife , the parents. As he got older he became an Atheist.. He married when he was 21 to a very sweet girl. . . They lived here in Illinois and had one son. Around 1990, they moved to Southern California. . In 2003, his wife had to have a colon operation for adhesion. A few days later they discovered the doctors had a left scissors inside her. So she went into surgery again. In another few days she had a severe infection. I don't know why they opened her up again, but they did. During this third time she went into a coma. She was eventually put on about every life support imaginable. A month went by she never came out of her coma. After the second month, doctors were talking about pulling all the plugs on her. I would call my nephew about once a week to see if there was any change.. It was one of the most hardest things everyone in the family ever endured. She had became a Minister about ten years before the operation. She told me many times. She could not convert my nephew in his beliefs. He keep refusing to sign any papers to unplug his wife off the life support.. Her surgery was in July, around Christmas time. one evening at his home my nephew picked up her bible. I'm not sure what he read that night. He carried it into the hospital room with him and sat on her bed the next morning... He was mumbling to himself one of the nurses told his wife later. She opened her eyes and said to me shortly after"AuntLois when I opened my eyes and seen D--- sitting their crying with the Bible in his hand I thought to myself, something bad has had to of happen with me." 6 long months she did not move, until that day. Just by chance? Ask her husband that now. He would never say it was by chance.. He believes there is a God and he healed his wife. She says he is a changed man. That morning the nurse ask her when she opened her eyes . S--- do you know what day it is. She thought for a few seconds and said. Well last week was the 4th of July. My surgery was yesterday, she told the nurse it must be the 12 of July. When they told her it was Christmas, she said she under stood now why her husband was crying with Bible in hand... .. Unplugging some one may be the best, but there is no way of knowing. They did not think she would ever be anything but a vegetable.. She had a long long therapy afterwards. Today she has a hard time walking for long periods. But she is doing well and her husband to me has a changed attitude for the best about everyone and anything imaginable. : One has to live long enough and experience enough to even grasp what the Bible is saying to them. Some never find it ..

Hi all! Lois - I have to agree with Lorelei - that is truly an inspirational story ! I hope they are doing well and that there is more happiness in their life ! I personally am not too much of one for Church (and I had considered going into the Ministry when I was younger !), but I do believe there is a God. I find I prefer to be more personal in my belief rather than within an organised group, but that's just me ! And Lois, as you (I think !) wrote about us all being together in one place - yep, that sure as heck would be [glow=red,6,300]AWESOME!!!![/glow] ;D ;D ;D TTFN! Take care, seek peace and SMILE! Thanks for reading my post all of you.
Charles . My nephew would say that is all nonsense when you are dead your dead.
Sky.. D.. an S.. is the couple with my that night Friday August 10, 1972 who walked down the street at midnight toward there on home. They attended the cook out we had that night. S.. was interested in meteor showers also. So they stayed a lot longer. Everyone else had gone home. They only had to walk about three blocks East. This little boy the had was only three then like my youngest. If I remember right . that is your age also that year...I never dreamed I would be telling this on a internet forum and to a three year old at the time.
Soon as they were out of sight my oldest son said we have not seen a thing I'm going to bed. The instanct I was alone down comes the green flood light.
