I keep seeing all of these movies that have as a central theme of their plot the battle to save the future of the human race, but more and more often I find myself asking the question...do we really want the human race to be saved? It seems like all people are doing is screwing everything up. They pollute the planet, fight wars, constantly kill and destroy and build bigger and more powerful weapons...why would anybody want to save that? Even in this movie humans are fighting a war that spreads throughout the solar system. That's just another example. I remember a long time ago back in the 1940s and 50s it seemed like a central theme of many books and moviesw was that some mad scientist was always trying to destroy the world. I find myself more and more identifying with the mad scientist.
