I mentioned this on the music thread but I thought I would start another thread over in this section if that's OK with everyone...
~ahem~
I've recently become aware of the existence of an artist/group (not sure which and I'm too lazy to do research on it right now...) called "Awolnation". I really am drawn to the lead singer's voice and the keyboards in two of Awolnation's songs I have heard before on the radio.
I Googled the name of the artist/group and found a music video for one of the songs by this artists(s) which are constantly playing on the radio.
This music video is like... it was written about me when I was a teenager. It encompasses the night terrors, the running inside the house because I'm afraid there is "something" out there... and the nightmares about running down the hallway and trying to hide from strange lights outside the windows...
This music video scares me, and also deeply fascinates me at the same time...

Hi all! Lorelei - thank you for posting this ! Having just watched it I can understand the draw of the keyboard. To me it seems to be dampened yet rhythmical at the same time. I do, unfortunately, wonder just how mainstream they are going to be? I say this because if they do well as a mainstream group, then I think a lot of younger people are going to relate to it, and it may help to unlock their confusions over things they may feel happens to them by showing it's not just them as individuals that strange things happen to. If they are just a niche group, then it's almost like preaching to the converted - but again it may help people realize they aren't alone in their feelings! Okay, my brains now about to drop out, so I'd best go peg out the washing ;D ;D ;D ! TTFN! Take care, seek peace and SMILE! Charles

It is disturbing... but also mesmerizing... I don't know why but there is just something about those keyboards... I listen to it over and over again... without watching the video it's very compelling... if I watch the video and listen to the music at the same time... it's like... I can't look away...

Charles, this song is ALWAYS on the radio... this one. "Sail" and the other one I posted, "It's not your fault".
They seem to be extremely popular songs. I want to buy the CD...
That scene where he is playing the piano just compells the *bleep* out of me... you know? Because I can totally see myself doing that...
The fact that the background is almost all keyboards (and electronic drums) makes me think he is the solo artist... like me... he writes the keyboard music parts and uses a recording program to do the music, then adds the vocals all by himself later on... which also compells the *bleep* out of me...
...yea... :S

OK, it's actually a band but the singer pretty much writes all of his own songs according to wikipedia... His name is Aaron Bruno... From wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awolnation Awolnation, commonly stylized as AWOLNATION, is an American electronic rock band, formed and fronted by Aaron Bruno, formerly of Under the Influence of Giants, Hometown Hero and Insurgence. The band is signed to Red Bull Records,[1] and their first EP, Back from Earth, was released on iTunes on May 18, 2010.[2]

He says he was acknowledging the group "Styx" and their song "Come Sail Away" while he made this video... it was a nod to Styx's song... that song also contains a UFO reference if I'm not mistaken...
He said that the interpretation of this video is open to be interpreted by the listener, but that he was intending to say that no matter how hard things get, you can still survive. ~shrug~

Did somebody mention Come Sail Away? That's one of my favorite songs. Especially the part where it goes... "I thought that they were angels But to my surprise They climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiees!!" ;D
