Does the grass normally look like that when Kangaroos (or other animals) lie down? When a moose lies down the grass looks "rumpled" and broken and it bends down in several different directions. Animals don't typically gracefully lean over until they fall down making the grass all fall in one direction with a "swirl" effect. You can see the "swirl" effect in both the videos of my yard and also her yard... animals don't make grass "swirl"...

Agree with you Lorelei, the grass around mine had no damage where anything walked through, there are no leaves on these trees, winter and dormant, no shelter, there are hundreds of full leaf trees 100 yards away where the roos live, they don't lie down 20 feet from houses!!

Can somebody take a picture of grass that an animal has laid down in? I would like to see what it looks like for comparison. We don't have any grass here in Texas right now. Everything is brown.

Hi, kiosoo. You said these flattened grass spots were 20 feet from your house? That's kind of interesting that both you and Lorelei had this happen right next to your houses. I've been taking a closer look at the video and I noticed some other similarities between the two. It looks like all of the flattened grass is leaning in the same direction. I don't think it would look like that if animals were lying down on it. I've been trying to find some photos of grass that has been flattened by animals but it seems there is nothing on the interent. I guess nobody ever thought about photographing flattened grass before. Another similarity is that they both happened when it was windy and rainy. I don't see how wind and rain could cause that to happen though. Especially that one small circle that was away from the tree. That definitely wasn't wind or rain.

I've seen areas after small whirl winds go through and the grass can be very flattened BUT the area isn't so big as these are. I don't have a clue.

Fall is here and winter is fast approaching. The temperature is dropping and the flattened areas are still flat now. The grass is shriveling up and turning brown in the flattened areas faster than the other surrounding areas...
~shrug~
Not really sure why... but that's just what seems to be happening...

When it starts snowing ( ) keep an eye on the flattened area and let me know if there is anything unusual about it.

I will keep an eye on it sky.
Paulette- that's a good idea. I'll start using the stoopid camera again... I stopped using it because I was busy and because I didn't like the fact that it was shutting itself off at a certain time in the morning... but I'll start it up again.
I can do this...

OK I chickened out last night but I will do the night camera tonight... yes I will... Paulette can smack me if I don't do it tonight... Lots of crazy stuff going on in my life again. I was forced to quit my job because of a co-worker but I think I got him back because I told the manager he was smoking marijuana on his lunch break. Too bad I don't work there anymore. I won't know if they fire him or not... It's supposed to snow tomorrow but usually the first snow does't stick. We usually don't get sticking snow until October... but who knows. The weather does strange things up here sometimes... My car will be in the shop tomorrow getting the studded snow tires put on it. I'm ready for old man winter. Yes I am... BRING IT ON YOU &%$*#!!!
