NASA discovers “alien” life in California NASA has announced that it has found alien life! In a lake in California.
The announcement was in regards to the discovery of a new organism that is so different in its makeup that it can realistically be considered alien, just not extra-terrestrial. The discovery occurred in Mono Lake, California, in an area that contains a very high concentration of arsenic in levels considered too harsh to nurture life, and poisonous to man. The organism accepts arsenic in its makeup instead of phosphorus, and the DNA found is considered totally foreign to all other life on Earth.Read about it here: www.digitaltrends.com/lifestyle/nasa-discovers-alien-life-in-california/?utm_source=MGID&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=MGID-DT#5676******************************* This is considered a major discovery because it is the first and only life form ever discovered that does not have phosphorous in it. It also has a totally unique DNA.

Thanks, Lorelei. Here's the picture of the weird life form... It looks like a bunch of tiny little peanuts. I sure wouldn't want to eat any of them though. If this thing is made of arsenic I would assume it is poisonous for people. I wonder if anybody has ever gotten sick and died from it? I doubt that the doctors would have known what killed them if they had no idea what this thing was. I suppose they might have seen it and just didn't know what it was made of.

Mono lake is amazing. I've been through there a few times and just the landscape around it looks alien. Shrimp live in it..but they've known that for years. I'm not sure why it's so interesting now..other than to prove that life can exist where it shouldn't be able to

There are creatures living around black smokers (volcanic vents in the bottom of the oceans) that tolerate high levels of lead and other toxins. Maybe even thrive on them. Also extremely hot water! I think that even though they look like shrimp and clams and crabs and such, they would be highly toxic.

I wonder where this "alien" bacterium came from? Are there any meteor craters anywhere near Mono Lake? Maybe it really is an alien.
