this does not even resemble a sundog. This is in the early afternoon with a storm moving in from the north. It was very black. the only reason I shot at this was because the blue sky was there and not any where else at the time. I was searching the sky and thought will a ufo is not going to be coming out of any of this into blue sky like before but then I seen this tiny opening. It looked so strange bright blue against the black and I said are you peeking out here and took the shot. I only missed it in my computer for awhile as I never zoomed in on it. Agreed. no "corona" around it, no 'rainbow'. Nothing sparkly about it. Weird. |

Video shows it behaving VERY oddly Nigel Watson, author of the UFO.Investigations Manual, said: ,I’ve seen a lot of UFO videos and they either look too good to be true or are of objects so far away and out-of-focus that you can’t tell what they are. ‘In this case it doesn’t look much at first then the ‘cloud’ descends and looks very odd indeed. It could be clever CGI or a hoax, or it could be a rare form of weather phenomenon. ‘Certainly it looks very ‘alien’ and has got conspiracy fans wondering if it is an ‘invisible’ stealth drone or that it is some form of translucent organic entity that lives in the sky.’

It’s a 12-year-old memory that remains fresh. There was a moment of mild panic just as the cloud reached me — Is this what a tornado looks like right before it hits? I thought. This is some freaky unnatural *bleep* and I do not know how I’m supposed to react. I imagine a lot of these photographers having similar hesitations as they set up for the shots below. While it was relatively easy to put together this collection due to the huge number of crazy cloud pictures available online (did you know there’s a Cloud Appreciation Society?), many of the phenomena shown here are pretty rare…and potentially panic-inducing.

While this spectacle was certainly an unusual sight, it wasn’t anything supernatural, scientists explained. Eladio Solano, a meteorologist with Costa Rica’s National Meteorological Institute, said that such colors appear when the sun’s light is refracted by water droplets and ice crystals, which are formed in the clouds. Experts call it “cloud iridescence.” As for the interesting arc-shaped formation, certain types of “hood-shaped” clouds can sometimes form above storm clouds when there is a strong updraft during the early stages of a thunderstorm. This is one explanation. Although science may defuse some of the mystery and foreboding behind this fantastical phenomenon, it certainly cannot take away from its awe-inspiring beauty, or the wonder it instills!

Throughout the night, FOX 10 Phoenix has received photos and video from people in Phoenix, Yuma, as well as Coachell and Menifee in California, showing what happened. Similar sighting were also reported to FOX 10 Phoenix from the northernmost portion of Mexico’s Baja California state. FOX 10 Phoenix has reached out to the National Weather Service for an explanation on what people saw Monday night. An official said the “cloud” looks very reminiscent of rocket and missile exhaust that is high in the atmosphere, and that they have seen things before with a similar appearance that were associated with activity at the White Sand Missile Range and/or Vandenberg Air Force Base. Officials with NWS, however, did not have an authoritative explanation on the exact nature of the “cloud”. FOX 10 Phoenix is working to get more information on the cloud.

Now a video showing a cloud shaped in a perfect square, which is arguably the most boring shape of all, has been making the rounds on social media, leading some to link the bizarre weather phenomenon to supposed government attempts at geoengineering and weather control through the use of HAARP (High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program), the often paranoia-inducing radio installation in Alaska. The video, claimed to be filmed in Tuscon, Arizona and posted March 23, 2018, shows a large, thick cloud covering the sky on an otherwise clear day. As the camera moves to show more of the cloud it reveals perfect 90 degree angles and well defined edges against the backdrop of blue sky. It’s a noteworthy cloud, and it’s understandable that it would spark curiosity. Of course, this square cloud video could be a hoax. That’s a reality in the age of easily accessible video effects tools and platforms to disseminate videos. This isn’t the first time square-shaped and other strange clouds have been seen, however, and it never fails to excite curiosity and speculation. After all, clouds aren’t known for their conformity to rigid geometry, and well defined angles and squares are rarely seen in nature. Why, though, are people jumping to the immediate conclusion that this strange weather phenomenon is due to HAARP and not something else? Is it merely because of HAARP’s notoriety and the fact that its name sounds like a comic book super-weapon, or are there specifics of the HAARP research program that would account for these mysterious clouds? HAARP is a research facility consisting of an array of high frequency transmitters in Gakona, Alaska. The facility was built in 1993 with the express purpose (as the HAARP FAQ explains) of artificially inducing rare weather phenomena, to better study otherwise obscure and unpredictable atmospheric events. HAARP uses high-frequency radio transmissions to heat targeted areas of the ionosphere to artificially replicate disturbances that are found in nature. HAARP’s website lists a select few of the phenomena that can be replicated:
With a facility like HAARP, it is possible to perform an experiment at will to create plasma structures and irregularities, use the ionosphere like an antenna to excite low frequency waves, create weak luminous aurora-like glows and a variety of other experiments.OK, so it’s definitely a weird facility. It’s too bad the “variety of other experiments” are not elaborated on, though it probably wouldn’t reveal much. HAARP denies that they’re hiding a weather control machine up in the frozen north, and they deny that the installation could be at all used to control the weather:
Radio waves in the frequency ranges that HAARP transmits are not absorbed in either the troposphere or the stratosphere—the two levels of the atmosphere that produce Earth’s weather. Since there is no interaction, there is no way to control the weather. The HAARP system is basically a large radio transmitter. Radio waves interact with electrical charges and currents, and do not significantly interact with the troposphere.That doesn’t stop the speculation though. Government research into weather manipulation is a real thing, according to the CIA, and if HAARP had nothing to do with these strange clouds then they’re probably kicking themselves for putting this in their FAQ: When Is the Next Scheduled Research Campaign?
