OK, why do we do it? What great cosmic force compels to know everything? about anything that we can't figure out, as in it lands on our door steps and shouts "here is/are the answer(s) to all the question(s) of the cosmos.. I mean really folks, do we have to know the answers to every "unsolved" event, happening, "mystery' since the 1 cell animal became split. Of course we don't. In the grand scheme of things, 1,000 years from now, who is going to give a flip anyway. Will knowing all make you live beyond infinity? Be here or there to comment on the "end of time"...hummm well maybe but you won't stop it. I got that from a reliable source. So what is with all the "mysteries"? Nice to read about, sure.Appreciated that they are cited, you bet!! BUT solving them.... who says we're supposed to. I, for one, have not had any "voice(s) telling me to solve this or that, mind you I haven't ask if anyone wanted me to but if they are to be solved, and I ask IF, are we just speculating as to cause/effect, who did what to whom, act of nature, of man or some "divine being" and no, I don't mean guys in flying saucers. This time of the year we as mortals seem to revel in the speculation of "divinity", the "nuts and bolts" of a religion few I dare say were around when it began nor will be around when it reaches its conclusion. That is a mystery we as mortals have yet to get our hands around, speculate on, justify the need for, etc., etc., etc. So let's give the quest for the solving of mysteries some slack, say for a couple of weeks and simply enjoy the "mystery" of how we, as mortals, can be so tender, caring, compassionate toward one another, this special time and after the first of each year forget what we so happily did for a few short weeks and go back to being the "back stabbing' hateful , inhumane" creature we truly are and have come to enjoy being in all its horrible, blood sucking, glory. Amen.

I can only answer on a personal note. Strange things have hunted me out since I was a child..the universe has always taken care of and challenged me. I didn't have a particularly nurturing childhood and I think solitary children tend to be more accepting of the oddities in life. I've always 'sensed' things but took them for granted rather than needing explanations. Until the day my friend and I were abducted, terrified and worse by some beings my mind refused to deal with. To me...THAT needs explanation. I don't care a whit that there are here...I'd be surprised if the Earth hadn't been visited by dimensional beings or others...BUT I do need to understand why they figure they had the right to kidnap, terrorize and experiment on kids. I need to understand why they felt that was necessary because it's been a major stumbling block from time to time in my life..and not something I can accept or gloss over or pretend they had our best interests at heart and were really my friends. That is why I need to solve a mystery. I'm fine with sharing the world with big feet..or Nessies..or Jersy Devils..I don't need to 'solve' the mystery of them. They are interesting..but I'm not driven to know about them. The other...well...they do not fit my comfort zone.

I never investigate "mysteries" on Christmas. Seems 3 guys from Persia thought it was a "bad idea" and passed it on. Merry Christmas.

I do it because my own personal experiences has me asking questions that nobody has answers too and I want to know what is going on. I'm not content to just sit around saying, "Boy, that was weird," and then forgetting about it. My curiosity is yelling at me to be satisfied. Also I think that my life has just kind of lead me in this direction. When I was young I was fascinated with dinosaurs and prehistoric life that used to exist on the planet millions of years ago...and the thought that there may be other things that used to exist (or still do) like dragons, bigfeets, ghosts or whatever just really made me curious. My favorite TV show used to be the X-files and that had a lot of influence on me becoming a paranormal investigator. I see investigating all of this stuff as an adventure...and possibly a chance to actually find scientific explanations for some of it. After all, if professional scientists aren't going to investigate paranormal phenomena then somebody has to.

They cannot investigate what they cannot see. It seems to me..that paranormal happenings..suck in a certain breed of people..and these see what others don't or feel it or sense it or just 'know' by some means others don't have...that it's there. It calls to us..throws itself in our paths..I cannot escape the 'psychic' side of myself..and I have tried. It hunts me down...and that 'dimension' is as real to me as the earthy grounded one that everyone sees. Every day I know it's out there...I constantly look up...not because I expect to see something but because I know it's there..that someone or something is looking down. As for 'solving' mysteries...I don't think there are solutions to very many of them..
