“UFO” crashes through St. Paul apartment windowJeffrey DeMars, KARE May 9, 2014 SAINT PAUL, Minn. - Bob Urman said he was sitting down in his recliner to take in a Twins game the night of May 7th when just after the first pitch, something came crashing through his St. Paul apartment's window. "It scared the living heck out of me," said Urman. "I just stood there I was stunned."
He said the object broke through his double paned window, crashed into the back of his television set, broke glass all over the floor and when the metal object came to rest it was so hot it burned his carpet. Urman said he called police and when they arrived the object was still hot to the touch. "He went to reach for it and it was warm and he dribbled it out and he picked it up and put it on the shelf by the window," Urman explained.
Not one to be a believer of UFO's or anything extraordinary for that matter, Urman was convinced it fell off of a plane. St. Paul police took it to the object to the airport where mechanics there said it looks like a part from a vehicle, not an airplane. Urman isn't convinced of that, while he lives on Snelling Avenue, his window faces an ally, not the main thoroughfare.
The object is now part of an investigation and in the hands of the St. Paul police. "When I was sitting here and I was trembling, I thought, what does it take to get to 81 you know," smiled Urman. His 81st birthday is a month away. As far as police are concerned, nobody was hurt, as far as they can tell no crime was committed, but if anybody recognizes what it could be feel free to call Saint Paul police. www.kare11.com/story/news/local/2014/05/09/ufo-crash-window-saint-paul-airport-airplane-automobile-police-investigation/8909335/

That is interesting. What floor was he on? Looks like the inside of my canister rug cleaner.

Could be lots of things. Doesn't give diameter or other measurements so it's hard to say. Fitting off of a pipe on someone's roof (to keep stuff from falling back into the pipe)..maybe someone flushed a drain to unclog it and blew it across the street...some sort of spark damper...eh...no way to say without knowing how big it is.

I guess the strange part is it was "hot enough to burn carpet".....

If it was part of a plane it wouldn't be hot. It would have had plenty of time to cool off as it was falling down from the sky. Doesn't look like part of a plane either. If it fell from something up in space I suppose it could have heated up as it passed through the atmosphere if it was going fast enough but I don't see any signs of scorching or melting on it. It doesn't look like a part of any space craft or satellite either. I would guess it has a more earthly origin...some piece if machinery or another. The guy said his window is facing an alley but he didn't say what was on the other side of the alley. Some type of factory maybe?

The article does such a disservice providing no facts. It only makes matters worse, not clearing up. The fact that they use the irresponsible title in article using the term 'UFO' shows obviously they are concerned more about hits on their website.
No size shown. It could be an 1 inch to 6 inches based on background texture. No apparent metal type (heavy - steel? Light -aluminum?). They seem more interested in a story than requesting the public assist wanting an answer. I know first hand from former high ups in Mufon and UFO websites, it is never about finding the truth, its all about profiting if possible from a good story. Even with their hangar 1 show, I haven't seen Mufon getting rich lately if the quality of their 'stories' shows anything.
The metal looks worn and well used. Based on the description, the people asked for 'expert' opinions don't seem experts short of going to the FBI forensic labs. It does look like part of a worn brake on an aircraft of possibly a engine part (Jet or reciprocating piston engine?).
If the part is large, it could still be quite hot falling from the sky. Again, it would depend on the size, type of metal, and the distance it traveled for evaluating its thermodynamic properties.
The space shuttle lands as a glider hot. Ground personal on the runway have to be careful not to burn their hands touching the shuttle immediately after landing.
Several scenarios.
1. It did fall from an aircraft.
2. A propane stove exploded near by.
3. His wife was *angry* at him watching the ball game not doing the dishes and threw something at him.
4. A disgruntled paper boy fired something through his window because he didn't pay his bill, and he fabricated the whole story so he wouldn't have to pay for the burn in his carpet to his landlord?
Things fall out of the sky all the time. Not worth the trouble here. lol.
Let the insurance company handle it replacing his window.

General consensus seems to be it was part of a wheel bearing assy off a vehicle. That might explain the heat.

I was kind of thinking it looked like part of a bearing or a bushing. There's no telling what it came from though. There are so many machines that use stuff like that on this planet that it could have come from anything.

Here is another one:Western NC man perplexed after ‘UFO’ crashes through roofPosted on: 1:40 pm, May 14, 2014, by Web Staff, EDNEYVILLE, N.C. — A North Carolina man is perplexed after an unidentified flying chunk of metal crashed through his roof and ceiling on Monday, according to WLOS. The four-inch by four-inch two-pound piece of metal created a bowling ball-sized hole in the ceiling and was on the floor when Bob Poer walked into his home on Monday.
Poer told WLOS he found the metal part about 8-feet away from his bed. “According to the police and fire department, they think it had to come from an airplane. A lot of planes go across here,” Poer said.
However, the FAA told WLOS the part did not come from an airplane.
Poer was initially hesitant to pick up the metal object for fear it was radioactive. Officials later confirmed the object was not radioactive. Officials have still not determined where the piece of metal originated. myfox8.com/2014/05/14/western-nc-man-perplexed-after-ufo-crashes-through-roof/

www.ibtimes.co.in/ufo-sightings-3-metal-objects-fall-sky-land-china-600557 UFO Sightings: 3 Metal Objects Fall from Sky and Land in China By Parismita Goswami May 19, 2014 Three Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO) were spotted by the residents of Heilongjiang province, falling from the sky and landing in village grounds. The villagers witnessed a large, metal object that crashed into two places at about 6:00 am on Friday. They claimed to have heard loud noises and saw a fireball falling from the sky. "Villagers in Mengchang heard a loud noise and then saw big ball of fire falling from the sky and into a vegetable garden," the county government reported China Topix. "I saw a huge ball of fire, I thought it was a meteorite. I hid inside my house and waited until the object has landed," said one villager who lives near the vegetable farm. Two similar sounds were heard and seen falling in the neighboring county of Baiquan as well. The residents of the village captured images of the three objects that showed round metal objects of 70 cm in diameter and weighed 40 kilograms. "I don't know how big it was, but in the sky it looked like half a dozen jumbo jets falling out of the sky at the same time," stated one of the residents who witnessed the sightings. However, the unidentified objects spotted could be a part of the Russian rocket Proton-M that exploded soon after the lift-off on Friday, while carrying a satellite to place in the orbit. The Proton-M rocket launched at 3:42 am local time in Kazakhstan and it blasted 540 seconds into the flight at an altitude just about 100 miles, reported the Sky Valley Chronicle. Though it has not yet been confirmed if the objects were from the Russian rocket that blasted in the atmosphere, scientists from China have set out to conduct tests on the large unidentified objects. Nothing dangerous has been found so far and the experts believe that the objects are parts of the rocket. The article I found on the Chinese objects were pretty pointed toward a blown up Russian Proton Missile. Looks like debris rained down in many places and the rocket sounds like the most plausible to me. I'm doubting it's a UFO exploding up there when we have so darn much junk in space ourselves. Eventually orbits decay and satellites fall too.
