Does anyone know if allergies and alien abductions have something in common?
All my life I've suffered from allergies and/or asthma which is why I live in the middle of nowhere in the desert. Pollen and molds are low here. Dust isn't.
This year is the worst year I've had with allergies in a very long time due to our numerous rainstorms. That I understand as I moved to a dry area so this wouldn't happen.
What I don't understand is why I am so sensitive and though maybe my UFO experiences may have played a part.
BTW I am partially deaf to severe ear congestion and have been prescribed steroids to help with the inflammation.

Some abductees do report sinus and allergy problems after the fact. I have the occasional sinus headache or sneezing allergy fit but nothing I'd ever call serious. From the time of my first encounter as a little girl my left ear has never stopped ringing. Sometimes congestion comes with..sometimes it's louder..but never does it stop. There is nothing wrong with or inside of my ear that any doctor or x ray can find. I don't have TMJ. As we age, our bodies change. My daughter never had an allergy until one day she could no longer eat bananas, then nectarines, then latex..etc. It would be really hard to figure what is coming from physical maturity and what might be from an outside source In my opinion anyway

Sinus and ear problems are very common among reported abductees. I have problems with both of them but very few allergies. My sinuses are almost always messed up though...(except right now when I am talking about how my sinuses are always messed up :

It's always my left ear that I have problems with. I've heard the ringing through the years but since my ear is congested it's been bad. The other night I heard loud ringing for 8 hours straight. I do have congested ears due to allergies and I was given a cortisone injection. I am probably going to receive oral cortisone therapy starting Monday unless my face is infected due to the congested ears. I don't know what they'll do then. Perhaps they'll give the cortisoids and an antibiotic.
I've had allergies all my life. I'm really allergic to grass and who knows what all.
Thanks for the info!

My left ear is the one that I have problems with also. It gets infected every now and then for some reason. I have had to have surgery on it several times. The right ear never gives me problems.

I get ringing in my ears (both of them) and dizzy spells, but they usually don't last more than a few seconds.
I've had sinus surgery twice.
I also have a lot of allergies. I'm allergic to a certain ingredient in perfumes... I have no idea what it is... but every once in awhile I'll get a customer who comes up to me reeking of cologne (more common) or perfume (rarely) and my throat will start to close up. I'll start gagging and coughing and gasp at the customer, "Sorry... I appear to be allergic to your cologne..." and usually they just stand there like an idiot and stare at me with a dumbfounded expression on their faces rather than give me space and air ~rolls eyes~.
I'm also allergic to birch trees, ragweed (discovered while in NC) horses, and two different kinds of common mold. Horses make my throat close up too. Someone told me when your throat starts to close up that that's a "deadly" allergic reaction. ~shrug~
I guess that means I should bring an epi-pen to work and tell my co-workers if I collapse on the floor because of an idiot customer who had bathed himself in cologne who won't give me space causes me to go into anaphylactic shock to stick me with it... lol...
Death by cologne. A frightening thought. I'll probably end up on that show on Spike... what's it called... oh yea... "1,000 ways to die"... lol...
It must be an expensive ingredient... because it doesn't happen too often... once I went perfume shopping with one of my co-workers and we were trying out several different ones... she found one she really liked (was expensive) and sprayed it on my forearm. I immediately broke out into huge red itchy hives... she was like "OMG!! I'm SOOOOO sorry!" I was like "It's ok..." ~scratch scratch scratch~

Hives are the pits. I've only had a couple go-rounds with that. I usually end up with Atopic dermatitis instead.
Yes, you should see your doctor about an epi-pen. It could save your life if you are prone to anaphalaxis. Only once did I have a reaction like that, and I should have gone to the doctor, but I didn't know any better. I helped a friend cut alfalfa and for three days after I suffered from asthma, swollen face and lips, etc. I stay away from alfalfa.
I am better today as my face is no longer tingling or numbish and my tooth has quit bothering me. I suspect my parotid gland was affected due to the ear congestion. I'll ask my doc tomorrow.
Thanks for your info and I look forward to reading more.

Yea... I had one lady get really mean with me when I told her that I was allergic to her perfume. I guess I gave her the incorrect change in my fit of allergic reaction and she went and complained to the manager at the customer service desk. He walked back over to my register with her and she had this conceited and satisfied smirk on her face. As soon as she got within about three feet of me and the manager opened his mouth to speak, I started gagging, gasping and tears started rolling down my face again. The manager took one look at me, and took her back over to the service desk to fix the mistake.
LOL... what a ***ch... you get customers like that every once in awhile. They enjoy watching poor minimum wage cashiers getting yelled at and punished for not being perfect. I had one lady once yell and scream me and call me names for 10 minutes- accusing me of stealing her credit card... then she found it in the bottom of her purse and just walked out without apologizing.
Thankfully, the perfume lady was not given the satisfaction of watching me be punished... this one wasn't anyway...

I have trouble breathing through my nose and eventually went to a specialist. He said that my nose had obviously been broken and the septum was quite "deviated". I don't remember any event that would have resulted in a broken nose. Anyway this guy told me he could peel back my nose, fix the bone and put it back. I passed. Since then I've seen the operation on TV (not simulated). The whole or nose area is put up on the person's forehead (inside out of course) and eventually sutured back together. So I snore and such instead. Now I wonder if he would have FOUND anything unusual in my nose cavities. I'll never know. I ain't happening!

That's the first sinus surgery I had paulette... that and they opened up my cheek sinus cavities at the same time and drained a cyst in one of them. The doctor told me also I had broken my nose during my childhood... I also did not remember such an event... but I have always been accident prone so... ~shrug~. He described the procedure as taking a hand-held waffle-iron and straightening the septum... lol... I was like... stop... don't tell me... just do it... I was in excruciating pain for several days... on morphine. The worst pain I think I've ever been in in my life and I've been through a lot of pain... I came out of anesthesia to see the doctor smirking at me and he said, "Oh good you're awake! I just wanted to tell you that your sinuses and nose are packed full of seaweed and cocaine!" and he walked out of the room. I turned to the nurse and said, "I thought cocaine was illegal..." She patted my arm and said, "Not if you have a prescription for it! It reduces the swelling." lol... Having your nose packed full of stuff is a pain... every time I would wake up from sleep my tongue would be chapped... for weeks...

I don't think I know anyone who doesn't have some sinus trouble or allergies...during pollen season. As for the ears..well it seems to be predominately the left from what I'm reading.

My nose was broken when I was a little kid also, and I had to have surgery to remove a cyst from my sinus cavity. I still have problems with my sinuses. All the talk about hives just reminded me of something Just a few weeks after my first abduction experience I had a another experience where I was asleep in bed and I felt something stick me in the back directly over my spine. At first I thought it was just some big giant mosquito or something so I reached up to brush it away and all of a sudden I felt paralyzed and I felt the strength drain out of me. I kept getting weaker and weaker until I lost consciousness. When I woke up the next morning I had these big red welts all over my body. They ranged in size from about as big as a dime to a half dollar and they itched very badly. I was really, really sick too. I couldn't even get out of bed for three days. The welts lasted for about two weeks before they went away. I suppose that could be an allergic reaction but I don't know from what.

It would be interesting to find out what the percentage of reported abductees also reported allergy symptoms and the severity of symptoms. I suspect not many allergy patients are receiving decongestants, antihistamines and cortisoid therapy. Most people, including me, use an antihistamine and do just fine. Normally I can get by with my daily dose of Claritin but not this year. I also suffer year-round allergies, including food alliergies and Atopic dermatitis.
I also suffered severe asthma at one time, mainly allergy based, and had to move to an area that is almost barren.

Approximately six years ago I broke out in body wide hives. The hives/welts lasted almost a month. They'd probably still be there if I had not received a cortisone injection. That broke the cycle but I often wonder what caused it in the first place. I had not done anything differently but the hives just broke out. BTW I have used the same All Free and Clear detergent after that incident and have had no problems. daisy

I wouldn't have known what caused my weird reaction if I had not been awake when whatever that thing was stuck me in the back. I still don't know what it was either. Spider, giant mosquito, hyperdermic needle... I always assumed it must have been a spider but the symptoms and the reaction that I had do not match the symptoms of a spider bite, either poisonous or not. Also the fact that it happened just a few weeks after I got zapped by a beam of light and floated out of my bed make me wonder if the two incidents are connected. Even after all of this time I still don't know.

I can go stand in ragweed for hours. Once I pulled it out of the ground by hand to make a garden. Never bothered me. Pollen does not bother my sinuses. It is so strange .. I go through a giant box of kleenex ever two days. I never have a runny nose. Like the drip. Mine is just congestion bad bad bad. Doctors don't know either. Any thing that flies, like baby powder .. sawdust drives me nuts. ..if powder form I cannot be around it. Everday kitchen flour does not bother me. But it flies... lol

I have huge allergies to dust but that only occurred after I had my tonsils removed. My son has frequent nosebleeds and I have frequent migraines.

I had major nose bleeds as a child and so my sinuses are messed up. I have never had a problem with pollen, but have started to in the last few years, but we live in a very high pollen area.

Wow. I just found this thread and I was talking about my allergies yesterday . Interesting what you said, jarmen. I was going to have my tonsils removed after years and years of allergy trouble; not the other way around. In the fall of 2010 I was tired of my throat bothering me so I just made an appt. with my nose Dr. with the intention of telling him I was ready to have my tonsils removed. He had told me some time before that I should have it done. Well, he stood there and looked at me. "You have no tonsils to speak of". Anyway, I guess I'm going about this the wrong way ;D. I think allergies have something to do with Psi abilities, and it seems some think allergies and Psi abilities are an "alien" thing. . . I mentioned a theory on the other thread ;D. Ok, I'm thinking along the lines of "conspiracy". I don't know if I believe this, but people have talked about chemicals put in our air and food that will eventually dumb us down . Take it another step. . . What would help keep a psychic person from "hearing" and sensing things? Why, just clog up their senses, of course. Doesn't it strike you guys as odd that this is the direction that some of our modern weaponry is going?? Are we just taking ideas from someone else? Or is this just a very effective means of disabling someone? Hmmmmmmm.

Chemicals that dumb people down, huh? The folks in Washington must have tested them on themselves first. I have a really bad constant sinus condition also. And the nosebleeds that still occur every month when the moon is full. I didn't use to be allergic to anything but I seem to be developing allergies as I get older. Certain foods are starting to bother me that never did before and I have been sneezing quite a bit lately too. Have no idea what that means though.

My Doctor ran water through my ears last week to clean them out , I started vomiting right away. I would never of went if I had known this. A couple of years ago she cleaned them out with a long instrument. I could not turn my head or move it up or down with out pain for about three days. I have had a violent headache ever since. And talk about the noise in my ears, I have had hissing, ringing, pounding, gushing, also sounds like a bass drum inside my head. It is because of the white lesions on my audio nerve. This was about as bad as my last spinal tap, as far as a reaction from it. No more of that. Then she said . "Well Lois nothing seems to be coming out of your ears. I could of shot her. She told me a few days before to come band and have my ears cleaned as my sinus was so bad. She is a idiot. I say this every time I visit her almost. Then she told me . I think you have a tiny ear cannel. It seems to be closed is why it looks so stopped up. I was sure mad.. I have not went into water over my head since my encounter as I almost drowned that day. I went under trying to show Tonia how to hold her breathe under water. When the water entered my ears I got sick and could not tell if I was standing on my head or sideways in the water. No barrings at all. The falling feeling in the brain was doing its thing. I tried to figure out where the sand was above me behind me below me. When this happens it feels like my body parts are all in the wrong place . My arm could feel like my leg is there instead. It is the most scariest thing imaginable. When it happens I lay still till it passes as moving my head makes it worse . I cry and scream at everyone. Do not move me, you touch me and I will kill you. My voice yelling has no effect on it. I try and keep my eyes close, but then I vomit sometimes by doing this. This was the worse it ever was . It was the following summer in 1973 after the ufo event. I knew I could not stand up in the dark but water I did not know about. I carry a flashlight to the restroom in the night. If not for lights outdoors at night, I would have to lean against the side of the house when I try and move myself. This went on for 30 some years before any stupid Doctor would put me in a MRI. Getting back to the water at the park . I kept telling myself if I can find the sand and put my feet on it I will push up as hard as I can. I keep swinging my arms like swimming. But I was not coming up. I was going down. My fingers finally hit the sand on the bottom of the lake. I willed my mind to curl up into a fetal positions while my feet was on the sand, I then give my body a push off with my legs and feet . Only my fingertips surfaced. Poor Tonia then around 7 years old had been screaming at the Lifeguard who was so far away he did not hear or seen her waving. But she seen my finger tips come up in front of her face. She reached down and found my wrist and yanked. and she keep moving backward walking with me to shore. I told them something is wrong with my brain, I know it. The stupid Doctors always said bad nerves and stress. Do you believe that. ? I had just turned 30 years old in June of 73. It took me til I was 62 to find out what was wrong with my head. If anything cause this to happen I just never did it again. A motorcycle on the street going by will do the same thing. Any vibrations at all . Now here is this Doctor last week pouring water in my ears. I should never of let her. My head hurt so bad I spent the entire day in bed, But had to listen to all those sounds in my head. They are always in my head but with people talking and daily noise it is not audible so much. Right now at this computer my ears are humming. I know what i can do and what I can't. It did not take me long to figure it out. First experiences one by one as time passed, I would never do that one thing again. In the pass twenty years there has been nothing new to make my head do this. I learned them all early on. Must be about 60 different movement and vibrations that I won't tolerate. I drive eveyone around me crazy as they just don't understand it and think next time this won't bother her, it is all in her head. They won't see me do it another time believe me. But I cannot control the whole world around me. I should be living in a sound proof world. Noise is not always it. If I try and mow the yard the vibration from holding the mower does it, I actually feel the trimmer run up my arm neck and then brain. I hate motors of any kind. Here is a very funny one. People cannot believe I can go sit and watch the loudest fireworks. I tell them stupid people every year. Why can't you understand me. I been telling you for 40 years now. THE FIREWORKS ARE IN THE AIR.. Not on the green earth down here. My none of my body parts are touching them. Do you understand me? ?? If I was to see someone like myself I would not have the insight to it either. Even the therapist told me. Lois your ears do not know how to send sounds to your brain. It sends them to any part of the brain but each different sound has a special place the audio nerve should sent it to. This cause the short circuit like an explosion in the brain and it mess up all your body from head to toe. There is no way science today could ever figure it out. You have 500 signals from the foot to the brain every second. How would they ever find out of all the nerves running to and from your brain be the ones that do not work properly. I just about kiss the strange man that day. I told him, I should of know this forty years ago. Not even the Neurologist told me what was doing it. She said take this medicine. lol So my noises in my ears are a physical thing I cannot do a thing about. Only safeguard myself as much as possible. One thing I do wish is .. the man next door would stop one day from running his electric saw. Another neighbor I wish his car would blow up with him in it. He has it souped up . He thinks it sounds cool .. Oh no I hit some key and the last paragraph vanished . what happen here.?? I was posting about the sound of the ship in the street above me. Wondering if it could of been that which caused this. I will post then read it and see if it comes up. OMG,

It is gone, but from souped up. I said there is no way to make him understand, he would just think like all the others . This annoyes her. Ha. Not realizing what does happen. So I give up trying.
Also the ship above me vibrated the street so bad when it started to raise its power, that it went from my feet to my brain. It was even vibrating my cheeks, shaking them to death, I was really scared and came out of my bravery and ran. It ran through me like a electric circuit running through your body. I have often wondered if this has anything to do with my brain today. Only speculation of course. It was really awful to feel this. I think this is all I typed in that last paragraph. After all this post who cares what I missed here. lol.

Also my taste and smell is messed up as well. I do smell fire works and buttered popcorn when it is not there. This happens often. Now many has said they smell sulfur so is it an encounter symptom or brain damage?

I found this Lois and I don't know if it's related to the smells you smell but it's interesting. Phantosmia is an olfactory hallucination , you detect smells that aren't really present in your environment.
The odors detected in phantosmia vary from person to person and may be foul or pleasant. They can occur in one or both nostrils and usually can't be masked by food.
Phantosmia most often occurs as a result of a head injury or upper respiratory infection. It can also be caused by temporal lobe seizures, sinusitis, brain tumors, migraine, Parkinson's disease and stroke. |

Thank you Jo, with me it could be head injury or sinusitis migraine. Oh yes parkinson's does run in our family . None of my brothers or sister ever had this Parkinson's but my oldest brother who has passed. My father had it , his mother and her father. . They came here from Scotland with it. Who knows how far back it goes. I do not have it as of yet. The older ones in their 70s and 80s now do not have this, only the very oldest who was diagnosis with it around 78. I have ten years to go til I reach that age. But My Dad had it at 62 long before he retired.
Now I do have white lesions on my smell and taste also. But they are small lesions so they say.
Thanks again

I think the brain really is the 'final' frontier. There is so much we do not know about it..or how many things we could fix if we knew how. Our own personal computer. I have programs for my computer I can run that tell me what hardware or software is faulty..that would be a cool thing to have for the brain

Lois, I'm thankful someone at least detected the lesions.
I know that you'd want to know WHY they are there, but I also want to know if you can continue to get lesions on nerves?
