According to government officials, the signals appear to be the first verified transmission from an alien civilization. China's leading astrobiologist, Dr. Xi Chang, a graduate of MIT, told Xinhua that "the sigal repeats itself continuosly in 2 minute long sequences and appears to be the four bases of the genetic code A,G, U and C that ribosomes must convert mRNA sequences into proteins and the twenty different amino acids that proteins are comprised of." Dr. Rosie Redfield, the newly appointed director of the Astrobiology Program at NASA Headquarters, Washington, confirmed China's dicovery this morning. In a press release Redfield said that "China's discovery has monumental consequences, and has been shared with the world's premier sciemtific instituions for vetting and peer review. If confirmed this will be the first proof of extraterrestrial life in the universe and confirmation that our DNA basis for life may be universal throughout the known universe." Mary+Voytek+_SXv1RXz-87m "The genetic code," Redfield (left), explained, "allows an organism to translate the genetic information found in its chromosomes into usable proteins . Stretches of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) are built from four different nucleotide bases, while proteins are made from twenty unique subunits called amino acids . This numerical disparity presents an interesting problem: How does the cell translate the genetic information in the four-letter alphabet of DNA into the twenty-letter alphabet of protein? The conversion code is called the genetic code. TO CONTINUE READING CLICK ON ABOVE LINK

Is that last story true or some kind of an April Fool's joke? I noticed it was dated April 1st. That makes me a little bit suspicious. Has anybody heard anything about this anywhere else?

I'm confused. They found a satellite (or moon) around Saturn that is giving off a signal. This signal is translated into the four base codes of DNA? Is this right? Am I the only one thinking, "Holy crap!!"

I thought it sounded too good to be true, and the fact that it was written on April 1st made me even more suspicious. Stupid hoaxers. We have to put up with April fool's jokes every day of the year.

Those darned hoaxers. I guess every year on April Fools Day we will all just have to turn off our computers and not read anything because it will all be a bunch of nonsense. Of course that would be a perfect time for the aliens to invade wouldn't it? They would catch everybody completely off guard. Nobody would believe it.

I agree, Jo. Stupid hoaxers! Even if it was April Fool's Day it is not nice to mislead people, especially if it is a supposedly reputable news sight that is doing the misleading. Stupid hoaxers.

viewzone2.com/milkywayx.htmlScientists Now Know: We're Not From Here!Summary & comments by Dan Eden for Viewzone Imagine the shock of growing up in a loving family with people you call "Mum" and "Dad" and then, suddenly, learning that you are actually adopted! This same sense of shock came as scientists announced that the Sun, the Moon, our planet and its siblings, were not born into the familiar band of stars known as the Milky Way galaxy, but we actually belong to a strange formation with the unfamiliar name of the Sagittarius Dwarf galaxy! How can this be? TO CONTINUE READING CLICK ON ABOVE LINK

Well..we always knew we were in motion in space..but that's just the vessel we happen to live on. We're still from Earth..that hasn't changed (at least in this incarnation we are from Earth). I'm not sure it matters in the long run if our planet is located in the Milky Way or not or where it will end up in 20 billion years. This is home ~shrug~. Wave to all the other aliens as we go sailing by

This is really interesting if it is true. (after all of the April Fools hoaxes I am now questioning everything) April Fool's or not, it is wise to question absolutely everything you encounter, especially anything in the media - mainstream, alternative, or otherwise. The media is a powerful tool that is proven to shape and influence human cognizance. As usual, I find myself agreeing with Jo: does it really matter where we are "from?" All that matters is where you are going. Yesterday's gone, and tomorrow never comes. In fact, yesterday and tomorrow are just inventions of our minds.

I agree totally, BW. I just think it is really interesting how they managed to work so many different things into that story...global warming, pole shifts, sunspots, the Mayan calander, all heck breaking loose...and used this galactic collision as a means to explain it all. It would be pretty amazing if everything they said was true.

It would be pretty amazing if everything they said was true. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Reality is so complicated and is subject to so many probabilities, the "real" answer is never simple or clear-cut. At least, that's been my experience.

Thats amazing. How our perceptions may change as we learn more and more. At some point, a perfect storm of interconnecting facts will emerge, that will all fit even more about our place.

Like Bewildered mentioned..past is gone..the present is in route to where were going to end up so..it has my vote of importance. We have all of these experiences to shape us to eventually embrace that future..I like the idea...that it must be so amazing that we need to measure up to it..polish ourselves for it. At least in my humble peepers I see it thus

Inside my wee head there is this amazing universe..a collection of trivial, useless and overwhelming baggage in which there will be hidden a helpful nugget or two of actual worth I hope to one day find it
