www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread651611/pg1The Day Before Roswell, page 1 Pages: << 1 2 >> Topic started on 16-1-2011 @ 01:23 AM by A51Watcher A while back Stanton Friedman told me that Roswell was not the beginning, but actually the end of a period when Flying Discs (as they were called back then) were buzzing the entire United States continuously for an entire 2 weeks BEFORE Roswell. He suggested I should go have a look through the newspaper microfiche archives in my area because the majority of these sightings were right in my area. I did so and... he turned out to be 100% correct. Every day front page headlines. I am attaching scans and text of those 2 weeks. Also our top brass were being grilled by reporters as to what the deal was. They denied any knowledge and thus were being made to look bad since these things ripped through our skies with impunity and basically laughed at any chase craft. As time has passed and I have done some traveling, I always make it a point to stop by the local library wherever I am and go through the microfiche archives for the summer/fall of 1947. Reason being, it has been a jackpot every time without fail, and the stories vary from state to state, town to town, paper to paper. Many stories are one of a kind not reprinted in other papers. One of THE most interesting facts to emerge from all of this is: The vast majority of locations the Discs came to and "visited" were top secret military installations. The public did not know that at the time, but presently it is quite obvious why they would be visiting Hanford, WA (Kenneth Arnold and more) and of course Roswell, being the only nuclear air wing. Also White Sands, Los Alamos and more. So as I traced their movements during this 2 weeks leading up to "the crash", I noted all the TS and black project areas they went straight for, as I'm sure the generals at the time did too. They traveled in a pack, ranging from as small as 3 up to as large as 9 usually, 11 on one occasion. They cut corners on a dime without slowing down. They were silver sports models, and could emit intense bright light even during the day but usually did not do so. The pattern of movement reminded me of a rock band on tour, day by day going to a different city, then moving on. The East Coast had a few days of big activity also. The biggest surprise was when I went to Hong Kong for a friends wedding, and of course went to their library. He came along with great interest and I started as usual a full month before Roswell to make sure I didn't miss anything. Day by day the film rolls by and... nothing! I can't believe my eyes because I had never come up empty before. The entire critical 2 weeks and -nada-. I keep going, and surprisingly not even the famous AAF captures flying disc story or the follow up balloon story was not run. But yet I keep going on sort of in stunned disbelief, then finally, a full 2 weeks AFTER Roswell, jackpot! The shiny fleet of 9 arrives during mid day as 100's of Chinese dock workers, and various townspeople watch in amazement at their speed and sharp movements. Uploaded by UFOTVstudios on Jan 8, 2011
See actual UFO crash debris tested and found to be truly extraterrestrial. The Roswell UFO crash of 1947 and the ensuing military cover-up set the stage for this explosive documentary about America's reaction to our planet's encounter with ETs. Going beyond the question "Did it really happen?", this program counters 60 years of Air Force denials and focuses on the more compelling aspects of this cosmic mystery: scientific evidence, physical proof, personal testimonies, expert analysis and the cosmic implication of an alien presence here on Earth. Includes: photos, videos, documents and an amazing arsenal of spellbinding interviews with researchers, eyewitnesses and the best-known, most credible UFO authorities in the world today.

ufonow.info/2011/09/11/a-sheriffs-dark-roswell-secret-revealed-by-anthony-bragalia/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter A SHERIFF’S DARK ROSWELL SECRET — REVEALED by Anthony Bragalia Sep 11, 2011 The role that was played by the Chaves County Sheriff in the Roswell UFO crash of 1947 -though of major importance- is even today not completely understood. It is also vastly underappreciated. Had George Wilcox not made the fateful call that day to the local Army base to alert them to a rancher’s discovery of unusual crash debris, the true nature of the event would have spread rapidly far and wide. The details surrounding the crash would never have been able to have been contained- and we would have had all of the answers that we seek today about the event. The extraterrestrial reality about Roswell, the Sheriff’s deep involvement in the incident and the burden of his kept secret is revealed by: * His Two Daughters * His Granddaughter * His Former Next-Door Neighbor (Interviewed by this author) * Two Roswell Brothers * The Town Mortician * The Sheriff’s Deputies And incredibly, Sheriff Wilcox’ wife also offers her own take on the crash in a little-known written account that she has quietly left for history. She personally detailed the incident in her own hand after it occured- and the document is now stored at an historical society. She speaks to the strangeness of that day and she offers us hints about her husband’s ordeal and of Roswell as an ET event. A WILCOX REDUXSHERIFF GEORGE WILCOX George A. Wilcox was the Sheriff of Chaves County in July of 1947. When rancher Mac Brazel came into the Sheriff’s Office he brought with him some of the unusual materials that he told the Sheriff he had found on the Foster Ranch. Brazel had just come from the Proctors, who had a neighboring ranch. Floyd and Loretta had told Mac that he should see the Sheriff about his discovery. So Mac made the trek to town. He didn’t know what the material was and he wanted to know if the Sheriff could identify the debris and help to clear it out and off the ranch. Someone was responsible and Mac wanted Wilcox to find out and follow up. Wilcox had no idea himself what the debris was that Mac had shown him. Skeptics gloss over a vital fact: Wilcox must have been sufficiently perplexed by the material -and sufficiently concerned about Mac’s story- to then have immediately called military brass at the base requesting that they investigate. Wilcox must have firmly believed that something major had transpired. He had to have been told something or seen something so alarming that he chose to involve other authorities and contact busy Roswell Army Air Field. And whatever it was that Mac showed George, it was not a piece of a balloon or balloon train, as the government states. Wilcox had a first-hand familiarity with ever manner of balloon. They fell with frequency on the ranchlands of the county that he served. He would not have gotten hold of RAAF over something like balloon materials. After Wilcox made the call, almost instantly the County Jail was descended upon by military. Just as they had later told the Roswell City Fire Department, military men told the Sheriff and his deputies that there was no need for them to go out the site. They needed to defer the matter to base officers. One of Wilcox’ daughters would later say that the Sheriff felt cut out of the picture, and though it was in his jurisdiction, he was compelled to cooperate. Had he had it do over, she believed, he would have told the press and reporters first, leaving the Army out of it. Thanks for this sobering story. When I was part of the SIP Star team back in Mufon, and a SIP state coordinator for California...it was expected an investigator (s) to get on site ASAP, if possible - collect safely any physical trace evidence and get if off site safe and secure before any government authority arrived. It was a standing order not to do first what Sheriff Wilcox did in 1947. Those SIP instructions were probably directly because of Wilcox.
If a crash occurred, first responders would probably be ultimately determined by the location and terrain. If a populated area, police and news vans. If very remote, likely military with the assets (helicopters and more) to arrive on scene quickly. They would know early on from information gathered by space surveillance (annaD) & real-time satellite reconnaissance. Based on past performance - Mufon would send an investigator - overweight near retirement with a medical history of gout two weeks later - not withstanding work schedules and weekends. Equipped with a garden spade and a freezer zip lock bag in hope to secure their fabled elusive smoking gun.
Remember the public attitude in 1947. Radio and newspapers. The military had just won WW2, many civilians had served, just recently discharged from service using their deserved GI Bill benefits in the biggest peacetime reduction of the military in history. There was not the suspicion of authority some might harbor in some circles now. Vietnam, Watergate, the Internet changed that since then.
Any conspiracies then were looking for communists in Hollywood, church, and your rotary club. If the government concealed fantastic secrets about spacecraft and aliens from 'outer space', the public would naturally assume the government must know what was best for them.

It was a different time back then. People actually liked the government and trusted the military, and they had good reason to...unlike today where almost every politician in Washington is a lying sack of puppy poo, and the military routinely uses innocent civilians as unknowing test subjects in sometimes deadly experiments. Roswell may have been the turning point. Or maybe it was the bomb they had developed just a few years earlier. Something caused a change and it wasn't for the better.

www.theufochronicles.com/2011/10/daughter-recounts-her-fathers-death-bed.htmlSaturday, October 15, 2011 Daughter Recounts Her Father's Death Bed Confession of Seeing Roswell 'Spaceship' and 'Little People' ... By Kevin Randle A Different Perspective 7-21-11 While sitting at my table in the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell, I heard a woman behind me say, “That was my father.” She was pointing to a picture of one of the soldiers assigned to the base in 1947. I listened to her for a moment and then stood up to learn who she was and what she had been told. Her name was Carlene Green (seen here pointing to her father's picture) who was the daughter of Sergeant Homer G. Rowlette, a member of the 603rd Air Engineering Squadron. And as established by the Yearbook produced by Walter Haut in 1947, he was clearly in Roswell at the right time. According to what she said, she learned of her father’s part in the crash retrieval just days before he died. He was on a Gurney and about to be wheeled into an operating room when he asked her to come closer so that he could speak to her. He told her that he had been at the base when the “spaceship” crashed and that he had seen it. He said that the craft was rounded and that he had seen three “little people,” and suggested that one of them had survived the crash. He apologized for not telling her sooner but that he had told her brother the story sometime earlier. (The Yearbook picture of Sergeant Rowlette seen here). Finally he cautioned her to keep it all to herself, or else. This all happened in 1988, which is, of course, ten years after Jesse Marcel, Sr. told his story and eight years after the publication of The Roswell Incident. While the story of the Roswell crash wasn’t as well known then as it is today, there were television shows that touched on it, there were documentaries about it and some magazine articles that told of it. In other words, this information didn’t appear in the vacuum that existed prior to 1980. CONTINUE READING: www.theufochronicles.com/2011/10/daughter-recounts-her-fathers-death-bed.html

www.theufochronicles.com/2012/01/ufo-news-david-rudiak-joins-roswell.htmlThursday, January 12, 2012 UFO NEWS | David Rudiak Joins the Roswell Investigation Dream Team Kevin Randle By Kevin Randle A Different Perspective 12-22-2011 We have expanded the team yet again. Dr. David Rudiak, who has done a great deal of work on the “Ramey memo” has accepted our invitation to join us as a consulting researcher along with Tony Bragalia and Chris Rutkowski. I’ll add here that we had planned on this long ago, but Tom thought I had sent the invitation to David and I thought he had. When we learned that neither had, I then sent one. Rudiak (seen here at the International UFO Museum in Roswell, photo courtesy of Tom Carey) is one of the experts (and maybe only expert) about what happened in Ramey’s office on July 8, 1947. He wrote to me that, “I've reconstructed the debris in a computer ray-tracer and proven there is only one radar target there and probably one balloon (or what would fit in shoe box), in other words NOT what you would expect from a multi-balloon, multi-target Mogul but perfectly consistent with Ramey and Newton's description of a singular balloon/target and Dubose/Marcel's substituted weather balloon.” He also said, “Another of my Roswell specialties are my various histories of the period. I have expertise in how the story was reported in numerous news outlets, not just a few. I think I have compiled the most extensive collection of U.S. and international Roswell stories anywhere. These stories present many angles and contradictions that just a few articles do not provide and tell us a lot about how the cover-up was handled. E.g., I have found only two or three newspapers out of hundreds carrying a rare AP sub-version quoting Sheriff Wilcox declining to answer further questions about the "disc" saying he was ‘working with those fellows at the base.’ That I consider to be very telling and corroboration for what his family was telling us decades later. Why are Marcel, Brazel, Wilcox, Ramey, and the press release telling sometimes very different stories, often contradicting the balloon story? Why do the AP, UP, and RDR versions of the press release differ in many details?” We have expanded the team yet again. Something did crash at Roswell, New Mexico, sometime before July 7, 1947 and, at first, the US authorities stated explicitly that this was a flying saucer or disk as shown by the splash story on that day’s Roswell Daily Record. Numerous witnesses reported seeing metallic debris scattered over a wide area and at least one reported seeing a blazing craft crossing the sky shortly before it crashed. In recent years, witnesses have added significant new details, including claims of a large military operation dedicated to recovering alien craft and aliens themselves, at as many as 11 crash sites, and alleged witness intimidation. In 1989, former mortician Glenn Dennis claimed that he was involved in alien autopsies which were carried out at the Roswell air force base. The conspiracy theory has been fanned by the US military repeatedly changing its story. Within hours of the army telling reporters that it had recovered a crashed saucer, senior officers insisted that the only thing that had fallen from the sky had been a weather balloon. A report by the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force released in 1995, concluded that the reported recovered material in 1947 was likely debris from a secret government program called Project Mogul, which involved high altitude balloons meant to detect sound waves generated by Soviet atom bomb tests and ballistic missiles. A second report, released in 1997, concluded that reports of alien bodies were likely a combination of innocently transformed memories of military accidents involving injured or killed personnel, and the recovery of anthropomorphic dummies in military programs like Project High Dive conducted in the 1950s. Since the late 1990s the debate about Roswell has polarized with several former pro-UFO researchers concluding that the craft was, indeed, part of a US military project and that it was, most likely, some sort of weather balloon. But further evidence has emerged, notably a signed affidavit by Walter Haut, the Roswell Army Air Field public affairs officer who had drafted the initial press release on July 8, 1947. Haut says in the affidavit, signed in 2002, that he saw alien corpses and a craft and that he had been involved in a military cover up. Haut died in 2005. Footage of a 'flying saucer' approaching and then landing at an industrial estate - supposedly near to the infamous Roswell alien landing site in New Mexico - has taken the Internet by storm. It was recorded by a passenger in a car driving along a motorway. The exact location and time of the extra-terrestrial event is unknown. It's a fake. The reasons why I say this: 1) The UFO remains in the center of the screen the whole time. 2) The UFO continues to move along with the car (in the center of the screen) at the same speed the car is moving. It does not bounce around, accelerate or back track. 3) When the car stops, the UFO stops and is STILL in the center of the screen. Fake fake fake... unfortunately another one...

Auntym I have had this video on tape for years. I believe Jesse's story 100%.. He would not of been in charge of anything on that base if he did not know the up to date weather balloons. I believed how he describe the material as weightless. etc. When he states it was no weather balloon, it was not.
heck! with all the added newcomers. ..
There would be no Roswell investigation had he not come forward. Recently the government has stated there were I beams on this balloon. Get real people!!. I taped all In search of programs. Leonard was great doing the narrating . The learning channel is not all like it use to be, I don't watch a thing on it now. Switching wives building homes. The should not be call the TLC channel now, what do you learn from it now. Nothing. Thanks for posting.

Investigaing Roswell Coast to Coast am 06-12-2011 Uploaded by MrThemastercleanser on Jun 13, 2011 www.robsimone.com/Guest host Rob Simone email welcomed experts in the Roswell UFO crash, Tom Carey and Don Schmitt, who discussed why the recent explanations of the Roswell crash ignore decades of evidence, played clips from key witnesses to the infamous event, and provided an update on their excavations of the crash site. Responding to Annie Jacobsen's book, Area 51, which alleges that the Roswell crash was the result of an attempt by the Soviets to cause mass panic in the United States, Schmitt declared that, based on his research, this claim has "no truth whatsoever. To that end, he surmised that Jacobson's source was merely someone who tossed out a tall tale. Additionally, Carey was bemused by the relative ease with which Jacobson solved the Roswell case. Don and I kind of chuckle when we see people who think they can go out to Roswell and solve the case in a weekend, he said, noting that the pair have spent decades investigating the event. Over the course of the evening, Schmitt and Carey played a number of audio clips from interviews with either witnesses to the Roswell crash or family members of those witnesses, who had confided details of event to them. One particularly chilling clip featured the granddaughter of a local sheriff who had been threatened into silence. The woman recalled being told that her grandfather had gone out to the crash site and saw not only debris, but also alien bodies. Following the event, she said, military police told her grandparents that, if they "talked about it in any way," the entire family would be killed. This extreme attempt to maintain silence, Schmitt observed, reflected the government's perspective that the biggest dilemma happened to be the civilians involved, since military personnel could be kept quiet via orders from their superiors. Providing an update on their ongoing attempts to excavate the area of the alleged UFO crash, Carey recalled some of the details surrounding their 2002 dig. He explained that the hope had been to uncover some rodent burrows where the creatures may have taken some of the debris into their nests. While this experiment proved fruitless, he conceded that they'd only managed to dig in about 10% of the crash site and did find evidence of a gouge, likely from the 1947 event. He also revealed that they have plans for a second dig which will focus on outlying areas, where the wind may have swept debris. Yes, it's a needle in a haystack, he mused, but it's work that has to be done and we intend to do it.

It is easy to focus on only one or two lines of thinking or logic surrounding the Roswell incident. We all may already know this.
The extreme security responses related to civilians in the Roswell area then could be interpreted several ways. It is viewed by those with one slant as confirmations of their suspicions, and viewed by another correspondingly differently perhaps. The allegations are dramatic and what 'conspiracy nuts' live for for assuring their continued mental instability and for some - even income. I am sure the harsh allegations probably happened as the granddaughter alleges.
The search for Roswell crash debris has been on going for a number of years when time and money permit. It makes sense too considering the A-12 Oxcart crash in Utah connected to Area 51 in the early 60's or late 50's. After declassified CIA reports stating the Oxcart crash area was swept clean of all debris, diligent researchers have found debris - titanium even with part serial numbers clearly legible today - and this from not much relative effort by just one person. So sweeping a possible debris field area around Roswell might make sense.
The Government was obsessively paranoid about it's nuclear secrets in 1947. Still are. The early glimmers of the 'Red Scare' were emerging fast. It effected many more than just black listing some screen writers, actors, and directors in Hollywood. Some of those fears then were even proved later to be well founded.
The only group in the world then (the 509 bomb group) rated to deliver the A-bomb was based only a few miles away. Such 'special weapons' were likely stored there too. If a Mogul balloon was in fact the whole fuss, any extreme reaction by government security on local residents would have been the same whether a balloon or a flying saucer - simply because as far as the security agents were concerned it was stamped 'top secret', or 'most secret'. That was all they needed to know to stress the situation.
The government agents that threatened were probably on an ego trip too. Mufon today based on many abductees I have talked with of late claim they are 'indoctrinated' not to talk about their own cases with anyone else. Witnesses really get *peed* off at this, and fortunately for the rest of us react accordingly. Some unhappy and very dissatisfied with the way their investigations are handled and seek other more professional help - or so they claim.
I guess I just keep reminding to look at the context of those times in 1947. They were far different times than now.
Another factor not discussed much around Roswell, have many considered any 'visitors' - if they were involved in anyway - might want to cover up the Roswell event too?
Not much I am learning would surprise me anymore. I am beginning to get the sense a number of 'closet abductees' - which I found out in some surprising and unique ways, maybe being abducted regularly and thoughts planted with the purpose of spreading 'dis-information' from the 'visitors' themselves?
This was not my zany conclusion, but those of several others close which when I told them some facts - each surprised me responding with this same zany conclusion independently. It took me back a bit. Is it zany? In a zany way this even makes some sense if we think, as many of us do here, there are aliens visiting here.
Perhaps undo influence on their part? After describing several abductees both in and out of Mufon, one a mufon member, two others in more prominent positions I will not disclose publicly - when describing the facts I saw, they surprised me with their logical conclusions. I was even present when one was regressed. This based on the limited information about the illogical behavior I related about the subjects mentioned.
Could it be some abductees could be spreading disinformation and debunking other well intended abductees? Even some in positions in Mufon white washing CMS case reports? Totally nuts?

Always felt so bad about Jessie and the reticule he lived with. If he had not come forward, how much about Roswell would we know today? He was the governments escape goat.. one witness who had to lie. The actor Kyle M. is very young here. I will always remember him by this movie.
And I will always believe Jessie. If not a ufo, he knew it was not a weather balloon.

I don't care what you think .. you want my story and I'm telling you.. That"s telling them Egar!!.
He also made a statement... "It had nothing to do with NASA." I believe that. I'm not so sure about today. NASA holds a lot of up close encounters with ufos today. Once there was a NASA employee, who told how he seen a alien aboard one of our spaceships.. on his monitor , then the picture was close down in a second. Wish I could remember who this NASA member was. It has stayed with me for years.

One thing for sure our Government has the photo's if this really happen as told by witnesses. And I do not believe they got destroyed. Those photos would be down in the ground somewhere if did be to keep anyone finding them. Heck, they probably made a thousand copies of Roswell photos. Who in our government would have this long time information today? I bet not many..

I'm watching this movie right now. I saw it when it first came on TV a long time ago but haven't seen it since. It seems that Jesse Marcel Jr is portrayed as a pretty big skeptic in the film. I don't think he is like that in real life is he?

I don't see how you think he is a skeptic. He even tells his son, you may be holding in your hand an object from another world.

But in the movie when the son is grown up he keeps trying to get his dad to stop wasting his time looking for answers...it's like he no longer believed it had really happened. that's why I said he seemed to be a skeptic. Of course we all know how accurate movies are don't we. I remember Steve said he once talked to Jesse Marcel Jr and he told him about the pieces of metal that he had held in his hand. He didn't sound like a skeptic then. Maybe they just did that for the movie.

July 8th, 1947, 65 years ago today - a day many believe was truly out of this world. For that was the day Public Information Officer Walter Haut of the Roswell Army Air Field in New Mexico told the local press about an object recently found in the desert: "On July 8th, 1947, he issued a press release under orders from Col. William Blanchard, saying basically, 'We have in our possession a flying saucer.'". Julie Shuster is the daughter of Haut, and the director of the International UFO Museum in Roswell. Just one day later, she says, came an official change of tune: "General Rayme out of Fort Worth issued the story that, 'No, it was a weather balloon.'" To little avail. Countless people quickly came to believe that a UFO had crashed near Roswell . . . that alien bodies had been recovered . . . and that the government was covering it all up. In the mid-1990s the Air Force was moved to issue a report with the subtitle "Case Closed" in an effort to shoot down the rumors of UFOs and aliens: "Bodies observed in the New Mexico desert were probably test dummies that were carried aloft by U.S. Air Force high-altitude balloons for scientific research." To which claim at least one UFO believer had a simple response: "It takes a dummy to know a dummy." hollywood producers - being no dummies - have made millions in the years since Roswell with movies about UFOs and alien invasions. It was 65 years ago today that the Roswell Daily Record blasted an infamous headline claiming local military officials had captured a flying saucer on a nearby ranch. And now, a former CIA agent says it really happened. "It was not a damn weather balloon -- it was what it was billed when people first reported it," said Chase Brandon, a 35-year CIA veteran. "It was a craft that clearly did not come from this planet, it crashed and I don't doubt for a second that the use of the word 'remains' and 'cadavers' was exactly what people were talking about." Brandon served as an undercover, covert operations officer in the agency's Clandestine Service for 25 years, where he was assigned missions in international terrorism, counterinsurgency, global narcotics trafficking and weapons smuggling. He spent his final 10 years of CIA service on the director's staff as the agency's first official liaison to the entertainment and publication industries. It was during this time, in the mid-1990s, that he walked into a special section of CIA headquarters in Langley, Va., called the Historical Intelligence Collection. "It was a vaulted area and not everybody could get in it," Brandon told The Huffington Post. "One day, I was looking around in there and reading some of the titles that were mostly hand-scribbled summations of what was in the boxes. And there was one box that really caught my eye. It had one word on it: Roswell. "I took the box down, lifted the lid up, rummaged around inside it, put the box back on the shelf and said, 'My god, it really happened!'" What exactly did the box contain that had such a powerful impact on Brandon? "Some written material and some photographs, and that's all I will ever say to anybody about the contents of that box," he said. "But it absolutely, for me, was the single validating moment that everything I had believed, and knew that so many other people believed had happened, truly was what occurred," None of this comes as a surprise to Stanton T. Friedman, a nuclear-physicist-turned-UFOlogist, who was the original civilian investigator of the Roswell UFO incident. In the late 1970s, Friedman began to uncover former military eyewitnesses who had been involved with the original events that took place at Roswell in 1947. Despite the fact that the military changed its story overnight, saying on July 8, 1947 that a flying disk had been captured but claiming on July 9 that a weather balloon had been recovered, Friedman's early investigative efforts prompted many Roswell witnesses to come forward and tell their stories. Numerous researchers have dug up more facts in the years since. "It's been 65 years since things took place at Roswell," Friedman told HuffPost. "How much more widely known could it be -- everywhere I've spoken in the world, they ask about Roswell." "What we really need now is the Woodward-Bernstein of the UFO world to bring out the disclosure," said Friedman. "Maybe Chase Brandon is a foresight of something going on.
