Lorelei, that was the strange thing about it. We (my friend and I) both saw the lights, yet we didn't think much of them, nor did we feel scared. We both just kind of shrugged and then headed off to bed. Again, when I was alone in my tent and saw the lights, I didn't feel scared. The night before we had a bad storm blow through, and I felt more anxious/scared with that then when I did with the flashing lights.
Steve, my batteries just ran out after almost two weeks of use. They were dead the day before. As to the light, it was a white light. The best way to describe it was flashes from a camera..., that pure white light.
Paulette, yes we did find out about the woman, and there are still questions about her. As for my son's dream about grandpa, he was right on. Grandpa had fallen and hurt his knee, but it took some time before grandpa would open up to us about the fall.

A series of bright flashes, a triangle pattern of marks on your left inner arm the following morning, and a dead battery - camera or cell phone? That is a interesting intersection of events. A case recently had a pattern each time his son was abducted repeatedly, each time a flash of white blue light appeared, as if out of no where. No apparent source for the light. Were your batteries fully charged the night before? After two weeks perhaps the batteries were already tired? Just checking simple things first. Anyone else during your two week camping expedition notice anything unusual that same night or other times? Your friend? It is interesting. Steve I would like to add that the next night my friend (told to me the next day) woke up to a bright light. Again, we were up talking in front of the tents and noticed how dark it was prior to going to bed. Then the next morning she told me about waking up and how bright it was outside. I asked her how bright, and she told me that it was like someone had a spotlight on the tent.

I know if I had seen something like that I would probably have gone bonkers and found the nearest big strong man and curled up underneath his sleeping bag with a flashlight and maybe a gun... lol "Shhh! Don't move man! I might shoot you!" (yea... I WOULD do that wouldn't I? ;D) Definitely a strange encounter. No fear whatsoever, just "Meh. Strange flashing lights. I think I'll go to sleep now... zzzzzZZzzzz..." ~rubs chin~ very interesting... and highly strange...

That is interesting, sanseed. Did anything else unusual happen out there? Any weird dreams or nightmares or anything? Did anybody else's batteries die or just yours? Sky, no odd dreams or nightmares, at least nothing that stuck with me. Actually, I don't remember any dreams while on the trip, but I assume that was due to long days playing in the sun which led to crashing hard at night.

I felt nothing about the lights, not fear or curiosity..., nothing. Looking back at it, I find it a bit boggling. The following night we were standing outside of the tents again, but we were feeling a bit creeped out because it was so dark that night. So dark that we couldn't see more than 10 feet in front of us. So, the dark freaked us out, but flashing lights did nothing. It doesn't make sense.

Sansseed.. There are many sightings in our area lately. I would not be surprise it was indeed a ufo. Did you notice any missing time at all? I keep going out but have not seen a thing since the triangled lights went over..
Are you back home now?

I had the most bizarre dream last night. I was standing in a house and looking out the window at some storm clouds. They were very dark, almost black. As I was looking at them they began to move and take the shape of a massive mastodon. This thing was the size of a five story building. It was walking and searching, and I knew it was looking for me. Yet, it walked past the house and I thought I was safe, but then it came back. I was hiding in the garage and was watching it walk right towards the house. Once it reached the house it stood over the house and then began to lay down on the house. I was extremely scared. As it laid down the black misty cloud was moving towards me and I couldn't get it away. Then this thing began to shrink to the size of a baby elephant and turned from a cloud mist to real flesh and blood. Once the transition was complete the elephant just wandered around the garage. Weird. I have a lot of weird dreams, but this is a new one for me. Brings new meaning to "not dealing with the elephant in the room".

Again, this seems like nothing, but I want to put it in here for record. I went to bed early, but I wasn't in bed more than five minutes and I heard a loud bang in the house. I instantly got up and didn't see anything to cause this sound. I assumed it wasn't a possible intruder because it was only 9:30pm. There was still some light outside. So, then I figured it was the house adjusting to temperature change. Then I had an incredibly restless night of sleep. At one point I woke up and I heard a growl (at least that is the closest description I can put on it). I looked over at my dog thinking it HAD to be her, but she was paws up and snoring. I checked on my son, and he was sound asleep. I stayed up for close to half an hour listening to the sounds of the house. Nothing came close to what I heard.

I had something similar to that happen to me once a long time ago. I think I was about twelve or thirteen years old at the time. I walked out on the front porch late one night and didn't bother to turn the light on because I was only going to be out for a few seconds but as soon as I stepped out into the pitch blackness I heard a low menacing growl that just about made froze the blood in my veins! I immediately reached back behind me and flipped the porch light on but there was nothing there. No animals or dogs or anything. I'm assuming it was just some stray dog that ran off as soon as it growled but whatever it was it scared the bejeepers out of me. That was not cool. Another time I was out camping and I was asleep in the tent when I heard something that sounded like a dead body being dragged on the ground right outside the tent. I immediately leaped up and looked outside to see what it was but there was nothing there. I have no idea what that was. I have also heard something that sounds like a growl late at night when I'm asleep but I just assume that it is a dream or something. Since I haven't been eaten by anything I'll assume that I am right.

sansseed, is there any chance the lights you saw were maybe from a boat or fish and game possibly ? Just curious and trying to weigh out the options. The marks dont make sense though, especially the irregular triangular pattern with no itching or rash. hmm

This is just kind of a wild guess but the bright flashes in the woods could have come from a game camera that somebody had set up. They are designed to take pictures automatically whenever an animal walks by so the lights you saw could have been flashes from the camera. That would not explain the big spotlight shining down on the tent though.

There are always strange sounds in the middle of the night. 99% of it you can blame on some animal or another, but some do leave you sitting up in bed wondering. On this last trip of mine I woke up to the sound of something rubbing against the fabric of the tent. I thought about looking out and seeing what it was, but decided that igannance was bliss.

Looking back on it, I wished I would have looked into the lights, but it just never crossed my mind to do so. That to me is odd. Yet, some things do make me think it wasn't a boat and it mostly has to do with the topography of the land, and how close they would have to be to produce the bright light. Yet, like I said, I cannot rule it out.

Boy, could I tell you some stories about camping. I was camping out in Big Bend national park once when I woke up late at night because I heard this strange noise outside my tent. It sounded kind of like something breathing...ahhhh...hhaaa.....aahhh...hhhaaaa.... Being the curious dude that I am I grabbed my flashlight and looked out just in time to see a mountain lion walking away from the tent! I know tents are only made out of a very thin layer of fabric but thank goodness that thin layer of fabric was there! It might have saved me from being chomped!

Never caught a thing on it. It could certainly explain the random flashes of light we saw while standing outside of the tent, but I don't know about the flashes once I was in my tent. I just wish I had gone and looked into the lights. I find it so frustrating that my friend and I both saw them, but didn't even think of investigating them.

Things being dragged around near one's tent - maybe a cougar dragging off its dinner. You may have inadvertantly camped next to a kill. I heard a tree planter here say that they had a close encounter with a cougar and noted that it had a kill nearby. They took the dead deer and threw it off a hilltop and the cougar retreived it and brought it back. Second move - tree planters moved.
I have often meditated on the fact that something with claws could get into a ripstop nylon tent faster than I could get out.
Especially if it was collapsed with a bear on top of it. Cars and campers are false security too - if one is in grizzy country. Cars that have the keys in the ignition and ready to drive away before the window is broken is the best situation.
But mostly - we aren't natural prey and a person in a tent definitely does not appear to be a recognizable meal. (more like a stinky jellyfish). We (kids and I) stayed in a campsite where the bears hauled off about 3 coolers one night and dined on the contents within a hundred yards of our tent. I heard something snorting and grunting outside the tent but decided to pretend I didn't hear it. In the morning the story was pretty obvious. The manager tried to convince the campers that it was racoons - carrying a 30 lb loaded cooler into the bush? I don't think so.

Must have been Teenage Mutant Ninja Racoons. ;D The best way to keep bears away from camp sites is to buy a couple bars of Irish Spring soap... or any other kind of soap. Cut the bars into half or fourths, tie string around the soap and hang it on branches of trees around the campsite. Bears hate the smell of soap and will stay away... at least that's what they say. ~shrug~

I've heard that theory too. Don't know if it's true or not. I'm not planning on rushing out into bear country to try it out either.

Makes less noise and it will smell pretty.

I'm going to share a dream I had last night. I found it (and still find it) very disturbing. The main gist of the dream was that there was a group of people taking small children, including my son. They were not taking them and keeping them, but would only take them for a few days and then return them to us. I was heartbroken and sick to my stomach about this. I knew that no great harm would come to my son, but I didn't know what they were doing to him. I thought about him being so scared and I felt helpless to do anything about it. At one point, I was on a bus like vehicle with no windows (like an open air bus) with many other people, whose children were taken, and I was inconsolable about my son. I looked up from my crying and there was one of the people who took him in another vehicle along side of us (yet, he was probably no more than five feet away from me). His face was turned away from me, but I asked him if my son was ok. He then turned towards me and told me my son was fine. His face was white and his eyes were black, but something didn't seem quite right. It almost looked like a person put a white tube sock over their face and used a black marker to draw in the eyes. There was no sign of a nose, mouth or ears. He was wearing a large oversized coat and a hat. I cannot get this scene out of my head, or the feeling of utter helplessness about my son. Weird.

My mind must be chewing on something because last night was just as bad. A lot of apocalyptic type dreams and death. It might be time to buy some more sleeping pills to knock me out all night.

Last night I went to bed at 11:30pm. I was laying there, but hadn't fallen asleep yet (or so I thought). I laid there for about 15 mins, my mind thinking about random things. Then my stomach began to feel weird. Kind of a cross between anxious and sick. I rolled over, and when I did I saw the time..., 1:30am. I literally sat up in bed. There was no way I had been laying there for 2 hours! Could I have fallen asleep? Yes, it's a possibility, but two hours? Just weird.

Lots of people have been having weird things happen to them at night lately. Shami is dreaming of satellites falling on her, Lorelei is seeing strange lights and I have been having about a million dreams each night. I think something interesting is getting ready to happen...
