Sighting ? Satellite(s)? O.K. Cool ! Ive got 2 other witnesses ! Yes ! Me, Kelly, her sis, and brother in law (her sisters husband) were all outside waiting for the ISS to fly overhead at 10:41 p.m. ( just a few minutes ago). I saw an object really bright fly really fast southward, no one else saw it,(meteor?) they were looking for the ISS. Then, another object, or the same one, appeared and went southwestward bright and quick where the 1st left off and I saw it and so did Kelly's brother in law (another meteor picking up where the 1st one left off? If so , that's rare) . If it was the same object , then the trajectory changed by about 45 * quickly . I dont think it was a meteor and it was way too fast for a satellite. Then,,, the ISS appears very bright and everyone was fascinated and in awe and it travelled several degrees and then,,,,another object shows up in the northern sky close to the ISS heading southward flashing very bright ( as bright as the ISS ) about magnitude -3 and then disappeared and then continued flashing very bright on and off (another satellite?). Me, Kelly's sister, and her husband all saw it,,,Kelly didn't,,,she was still watching the ISS. This thing captured our attention away from the ISS because of its bright flashing and awkward behavior. Its flashing wasn't consistant but that may have been due to reflectivity of it's solar panels possibly ? I know that whatever it was is what Ive been seeing in the past few nights and now I have at least 2 other witnesses. Im going back out !! Awesome !! Cliff

Something else happened earlier tonight before all of this did while Kelly and I were kicking back in the backyard next to a campfire I had made between 8 and 9:30 p.m. I was looking up at the sky and saw something illuminated fly over us twice really quick. It wasn't a bat although there was one flying around us. It wasn't a meteor either. It was approximately 500 ft. above us . Kelly didn't see it and I didn't say anything about it to her either.
The 1st time it headed due north. The second time was due south.
Very 'busy' night !!

If these are man-made vehicles, then at least 5 such vehicles are out joy riding tonight . "they" were very tiny and could have passed for stars except they were moving. They would blink consistently, and then not blink, and then blink again. When I thought I was "seeing things" is when I saw two such vehicles that seemed to be moving together, and then stopped as if facing each other . I don't know. How fast does the ISS move, by the way?

Ive been seeing this object for many nights now. It follows the same pattern as most of the other sats do,,,that's why I think it is a sat but it is extremely bright sometimes when it flashes. Im almost certain this is the same one Lois saw also. While we were all outside before the ISS appeared is when I saw that meteor like object wiz over very fast. It or another showed up where that had left off and that's when our bro in law saw it also but only for a quick second. I had seen something similar twice about 2 hrs. before that. I dont have a clue or explanation what it was.

How fast does the ISS move, by the way? There are so many sats up there now. At any given time I can at least see one and at times up to 4 -5 at once following similar patterns in the sky moving along at fairly quick rates of speed,,some more than others. Our brother in law has been watching them with me lately. His interest in sky watching is starting to escalate. The ones that stop and then change velocity and direction is the ones I question along with some that come in pairs or more. Those are the interesting ones Imo. The ISS moves rather quick from horizon to horizon and disappears within about a couple minutes up to around 4 at most depending on its max elevation. Luckily we still live on the outskirts of the city ( within city limits) where light pollution isn't too bad.

For the next few nights the ISS will be very bright and visible for some of the members here depending where you live. I posted in Lois and Jc's thread because of their locations in the midwest U.S. To obtain info for your area of the ISS and other sats. go to this link : www.spaceweather.com From there go up to "flyby's" and then the page will turn asking you to enter your zipcode. This link also provides info for meteor showers, solar storms, and other astronomical events for your area. If anyone needs help or has questions, feel free to p.m. ! Enjoy ! Cliff

This is an exact duplicate of the Tinsley 8-inch Schmidtz-Cassegrain Telescope I use to own back in the 1980's. I sure miss that thing but it was so heavy. It was built for an observatory. Hopefully soon I'll be getting a similar size that isn't as heavy or a larger one . The unexpected move set us back financially for a minute but anyway,,,,,,,,,,,here it is. I saw alot of cool stuff with this thing including Halley's comet taking up the entire field of view and then some. It was built in the 1960's I think. I wrote the company for more info on it and a manager wrote back and was thrilled. He didn't know the company even made telescopes back in the day. They were building things for the space shuttle when I wrote them. I guess the cost back then when the article was written was $995 in the 1960's. Only if I could find a price like that on today's market..... Attachments:

I bought it for around $300 in the early 80's. It had a problem with the right ascension axis. I fixed it but it wasn't easy. It was like taking a transmission apart with all the large and small parts it consisted of. I ended up selling it years later to a friend who in turn sold it to a professor of astronomy in Las Vegas. It was good to see it go to a good home where it was well taken care of.

I'd love to have a nice telescope. I just have a little cheapie that I can't get close to because it takes up space my husband can use for tools I live close to Palomar observatory..I keep thinking of breaking into the joint and holding it hostage ;D

Palomar . The scope I have right now is a cheapie too. Its about the size of the finder scope in that pic above. I bought it from a friend because I wanted to track a comet but I've "outgrown' it ( years ago ) so to speak. To observe deep space objects the one I have now just doesn't cut it. It's time to upgrade .

I hope you can get the telescope you want . I'm so glad you got moved and are happy with your new home! Do you feel "settled"? New noises, unexpected expenses, ;D. Not long ago you talked about your love of animals. All animals. I'm fretting right now about my Husky. I got a bigger baby pool for him and emptying it every day because the water heats up. Our garage isn't staying as cool, but I put him in his kennel in about an hour just to give him a break from the heat. Gosh, the last couple of years I have been putting him in when it got to be 85! Poor dog. Of course the poodle isn't suffering at all. He only has to be put in a kennel when no one is home. And last evening I brought his kennel into the house for while we were out.

It got to 102* yesterday. Kelly and I went canoing on the Niangua River. It was a 9 mile journey back to the rental site . Ive been going there for over 20 years now,,,we loved it ! We left the 3 dogs at home . When we got back it was about the end of their world with us being gone for 10 hours,,,they're like 3 kids ;D We also have 3 cats and a parakeet. We just gave away our 2 large 3 1/2 ft. Green Iquanas. Those things were expensive .They were eating better than us. If they would've gotten any bigger they probably would have ate us ;D It sounds like you're doing all you can for your Husky,,,poor hairy guy . With lots of food, water, shade, and most importantly, love, he has everything he needs. I bet you spoil your dogs too. ;D ;D ;D ( gotta love em) Kelly's sis and bro in law is staying with us for a few weeks but are getting ready to move in next door. They've been keeping a large tarantula here we can add to the pet list,,,lol. I held it last week,,,fuzzy critter. They're going to take the kitten too so it'll be one less cat but with them living next door it will probably come here all the time cause it's attached to us. Speaking of Kelly's sister,,,,this story is incredible and I'm so glad for them. *********************** (: **************************** Kelly grew up thinking there were only 5 siblings in her family until one day she found out when she was around 16 years old at the License Bureau that she had 2 older sisters. Her mother had adopted them at birth. One of her sisters went online and found one of them just a few months ago. Her and her husband were living in the State of Washington and relocated here so she could unite with her family she's never met after 48 years . They have been staying with us for a few weeks now and Im so glad Kelly and her sis has had this opportunity to get to know one another. Now she just needs to find the other sister.

About 2 years ago me, Kelly, and her son saw about 100 (objects) fly over westward as soon as the clouds opened up. I (we) still cannot figure out what they were. Last night Kelly dreamed that we saw them again.

That must have been incredible !! I'm not surprised that it has been dreamed about, but by Kelly?? It brings up a question that I have been wanting to ask you for a long time. Been hesitant to do so . Does your ex have any contact (for lack of better word) with the entities? Or did that stop with the ___________? I feel like an insensitive clod right now.

Been hesitant to do so . Does your ex have any contact (for lack of better word) with the entities? Or did that stop with the ___________? I feel like an insensitive clod right now. No need to feel that way Jc, thanks for asking. I really don't know what's going on in her current life. We've gone our separate ways but I have seen her around town now and then. I guess to best describe our relationship is that were not friends or enemies, rather neutral and no kids involved in our marriage to cause us to keep ties. She was my second wife. I do know that she had an encounter several years before we got together. She was heading towards K.C. on hwy. 71 in her pickup when this thing flew right over the top of her truck and hovered for an x amount of time. It then flew off at a rapid rate not to be seen again. She disclosed this to me the night the visit happened. Her and I had discussed this encounter "the visit" with a select few. Her family concluded that it was demons. I knew better, so did she. After our separation she went into denial about this encounter but knows that it did happen. Im not certain if she has had any further encounters. I have. In the last 13 years or so since this happened Ive had at least 3 that I can personally verify without any explanation. The perseid ufo, the 2 orange objects followed by blue strobing lights, and the vanishing triangle overhead. As for these 100 or so objects, I don't classify this as an encounter or sighting although I still don't know what it was. I know Ive spoken of many things happening, and with those I'm "on the fence" so to speak. I feel that some of the current things happening may be associated. The more I research this phenomena compared to testimonies from other abductee's I think that even the 2 "ghost" encounters may have been of e.t. origin. It took me a while to accept this and I'm still uncertain. Still looking for answers. Feel free to ask about anything, I'm basically an open person. ************************************************************* This morning @ 5:42 a.m. I was able to see Jupiter , Venus, and the brightly lit ISS fly over into the path of the 2 planets to form a trio. I can't describe in words how beautiful it was. Isn't technology great sometimes with the capabilities we have at our disposal ? Not only could I see them fly over knowing where and when but I also got to see what it looks like from their perspective looking down on us at the same time,,,,amazing ! Cliff

Thanks Cliff! For Everything. . . especially reminding me how beautiful the stars are! Today is not one of my "fierce" days (I might explain it on my personal thread; we'll see). But on "fierce" days I realize that something may be trying to keep me from living the life that I was intended. Innocent days of looking at the stars and seeing nothing else would be so awesome to do again! I admire your courage ;D. Is Kelly doing ok? Of course there was nothing sinister about seeing all those things through the clouds, but I don't know how the dream presented itself to her.

Is Kelly doing ok? Of course there was nothing sinister about seeing all those things through the clouds, but I don't know how the dream presented itself to her. Kelly is doing wonderful, both of us couldn't be happier or more content. We both feel so blessed to not only have each other, but also our families, friends, home, etc. I'll talk with her tonight about the dream some more if I think about it. She did mention yesterday when she told me that in her dream there was her and I and also different witnesses this time. The others being her sis and brother in law. Im not sure if there was anyone else. That night that these things went overhead it was cloudy the entire day and throughout that evening and when I 1st stepped out there was just a very small opening in the clouds. There wasn't any sign of these clouds letting up the entire day then immediately they just opened . It started with a small gap and then by the time Kelly had gotten outside it was almost completely clear in what seemed instantaneously. I had to double check to make sure that the few clouds themselves were not causing an illusion making the stars appear to move. Good thing for knowing astronomy. I hope things are going good for you and that you get the chance to find some peace and serenity ,that's important to be able to stop and take a breather on this non stop ever spinning planet we each inhabit. I guess sometimes even the small things like looking at the stars is a blessing within itself. By the way you phrased the above quote I sort of got the impression that you may have had another sighting maybe ? ;D I have been hesitant at times to look at the sky because I don't want to have another "sighting". There is another part of me within this paradox that does though. Even a former carpenter/concrete man like me who has had some training in shodokan can get scared when things like this show up. On the night that these objects showed up though none of us were frightened ,,,just curious and we each experienced an extreme adrenaline rush. Thanks to each and every one of you for your friendship ! Cliff

I was blessed to have great parents. Sadly, my dad passed away when I was 19. He always worked to provide for a large family. My mother is a Christian woman still alive and vibrant despite having a few strokes in the past. They taught us 9 kids morals and respect for others the 'old fashioned' way,,,glad they did !
The reason I'm mentioning my mom for the first time is because when I was very young I recall us going home and we lived way out in 'the boonies' 'boondocks' 'woods' 'sticks' as we call them here and several of us kids plus my parents were out in the middle of no mans land on a gravel road when my mother suddenly looked over to the right and saw something very strange.
Though the moon was already up she said she saw a very bright light out in the woods which appeared to resemble a half moon. Ive never heard her lie about anything and to me her word is gold. I knew then and I know now that she had witnessed something extraordinary just by her reaction. The rest of us didn't see it. By the time she mentioned it we had traveled a short distance and the woods were very thick.
I think I need to sit down and have a talk with her about all this stuff. It may be a multi -generational thing. I have been hesitant to do so but I feel I can talk with her about anything . Because of the fact that she has had strokes before I don't want her to worry though. I'm still undecided if I should or just let it go.

I'm undecided along the same lines. My sister has told me a couple more things that are really bothersome, and now that the subject is open, we'll probably talk more. I know I should be glad I have an "ally". I haven't had a sighting since the night I looked for the ISS and there were so many things in the sky that I commented it looked like bugs crawling up there . I also was kind of angry that "something" showed up at the farm the night of my daughters birthday party. This was a month ago. I have looked up on occasion while out watering at night, and haven't seen or felt anything. Just a little creeped out in general.

I am feeling very "blessed". Back in about 1988 I sold the large telescope, one that is identical to the one that I have posted above, and have not looked through one ever since. It feels like my vision of the heavens has been taken away from me for all these years. For the past 4 1/2 years that Kelly and I have been together we have basically helped our family out financially which has left us barely staying afloat with all the bills. Today I splurged a bit and ordered a 5 -inch diameter f/5 Refractor Telescope with an equatorial mount . I'm so happy !! It should be here next week and when it comes I'll try to post a couple of pics. I can't wait !!
