Nice video My daughter recently picked up a second job at the small local airport for a company that does repair work on planes. Her boss is a stunt pilot with a Pitts Special...I'm thinking he's going to be my new best friend ;D

Knew that would push your buttons Jo. My first job while going to college was working at a local county airport refueling planes, and other work. Worked there for three years. Many stories. Learned to taxi big heavy twins so the mechanics could go home and did not need to help me park planes using tow bars and pushing. Your daughter and you will love it.
The English dictionary should change 'Spitfire' from not just a word....to an 'emotion'.

There is a freedom that it seems we once knew and have long sense forgotten..not being bound to the earth..unless you feel it..you cannot explain it

A UFO SONG FROM THE LATE, GREAT JIMMY DURANTE A fun video for all the U.F.O. fans out there. Uploaded by zoobie2009 on Mar 3, 2010 Friday, May 28, 2010 Jimmy Durante: In His UFO by Robert Barrow Just when they think they've seen us We'll zoom away to Venus . . .in my UFO -- Lyrics from "We're Going UFO-ing"Ever since "flying saucers" captivated public interest in the forties and fifties, cartoonists and humorists have enjoyed a galactic field day. Between 1964 and 1966, when national UFO activity became prominent with dramatic overtones, the funny saucer/aliens/space invasion stuff in newspapers, magazines, TV and radio blossomed. As might be expected, this trend wasn't at all comforting to serious UFO investigators, forced almost daily to beat away the laugh factor with a stick while pleading with the public to consider UFO incidents earnestly. Nevertheless, it's human nature to dive deep and fast for humor when confronted with potentially dangerous or just plain weird intrusions into our supposedly normal lives -- and laughter triumphs over feel-good drugs almost every time. A few days ago, I mentioned a novelty song performed by the late actor/comedian/singer Jimmy Durante -- an immensely talented performer of both motion picture and television fame (he had his own weekly network show in the fifties), whose trademark was his large nose and a very notable voice. I'm acutely aware that some of you, perhaps most, won't recognize his name because, well, because fame truly is fleeting, and today has a way of replacing all the yesterdays with lightning speed sometimes. At any rate, Durante was 71 years old in 1964 (he died in 1980 at 87 years of age), when the Socorro, New Mexico (alleged) UFO encounter and a host of other close-up UFO incidents (with apparent ground evidence associated with various cases) began to be picked up by the national press. At some point during the brouhaha, Jimmy made a quickie novelty record, added to one of his LP record albums, entitled "We're Going UFO-ing." I erroneously called it, "In my UFO" previously, but hadn't heard it or thought of it for so many years that the real title escaped me until I looked it up. I do remember that the song turned up without warning on, especially, AM radio stations (whose sole reason for existence in the sixties was usually to play music and sponsors' commercials, with a dash of disc jockeys and news thrown in for good measure), played for a few days and then seemingly disappeared forever. ANY BEATLE FANS HERE? THIS IS GREAT.... The Beatles' First Ever Recordings To Be Released As 'The Beatles With Tony Sheridan: First Recordings' While The Beatles' first proper album was 1963's "Please Please Me," there was over a half decade of music from the boys from Liverpool that came before that world-changing record. Of course, some of it came as The Quarry Men, and then the Silver Beetles, and it was performed by fragments of what would become the famous Fab Four, but that only adds to the historical value. I watched this and was perplexed. This is not a live performance. There is an invisible Xylophone player (or a vibrophone player... or a glockenspiel player... something like that...) there is an invisible organ player, and an invisible tambourine player. Still sounds good though.

I think Neil Diamond's voice and style perfectly captures the sound of the 70s. He had a lot of great songs. Here's another song from the 70s that I really like.

I love the Edmund Fitzgerald Haven't heard Gordon Lightfoot in years either. He did the Pony Man..and a bunch of others I really liked. Hmmm I foresee a trip to Amazon....again. I've been to a couple of Neil Diamond concerts..I have his movie (with Luci Arnaz) and when we were showing, all of our liberty horses used his music..and evidently the judges liked Neil Diamond too ;D

My friend posted this video on facebook right after I realized I had an odd song stuck in my head... a song I had learned to play on the piano when I was about 12 years old.
I watched this video all the way through after I loaded it, it took awhile, and it was so terribly addicting I watched it three times. The third time, I noticed that when the Mexican dudes at the end are playing their guitars... it was the song I had played on the piano... at least part of it was a section of the song... weirdness...
The moral of this video is "Drugs are bad."

There is an invisible Xylophone player (or a vibrophone player... or a glockenspiel player... something like that...) there is an invisible organ player, and an invisible tambourine player. Still sounds good though. After reading what you said about the song not being a live performance I decided to do a little bit of investigating. It turns out that you are right--it is not a live performance. In fact, it's not even a real band. The song was recorded by a trio of studio musicians and was a blend of several older songs they had done with some new vocals and keyboards. They released it as an afterthought on the B side of one of the singles. The song surprised everybody by going all the way to number 1 on the charts so they quickly put together a fake band called "Steam" and had them touring the country doing lip-sync performances while the recorded song played in the background. It's kind of amazing the things we learn here. That has to be one of the most popular songs at any sports arena in the country but I never would have guessed its history. Here's some more info on Wikipedia... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Na_Na_Hey_Hey_Kiss_Him_Goodbye
