I would not want to live near a volcano.. Not after Mount St Helens erupted.. thinking of this I had a dream a couple of nights ago.. and there was water everywhere over the United States. Not just rising rivers but everywhere there was water.. I thought what is this Noah again.. I never dream of floods.. this dreaming I have lately is almost on any thing that has destruction..
I have never been to hawaii.. I know it is a beautiful place. Too bad it has all these volcanos whether active or not, they have so many.. It can be expected I guess on any Island..
Maybe my dreams was a result of all the talk and speculations going around in the news and internet..

@ Paulette: It's been so long I don't think I could put them all in the right piles anymore... but I could try to ;D
@ Lois: The entire island chain of Hawaii was made by volcanic eruptions... that is why the area is covered with active volcanoes. I have a thought for your flood dream... a big earthquake just recently struck near Tokyo and they have a Tsunami warning... ~shrug~

I think you were right Lorelei.. I'm still sick.. When it is over it goes away and it is still hanging around all day.. That was terrible all those people with no time to prepare.. I never see things like this unless it is a horrible lost of lives.. I thought it could be us this time. I did not see the land outline or terrian in this dream.. just stuff sticking up out of water..My problem is when I open my eyes it is gone the dream I mean.. sometimes I redream it night after night, I did not this time...the water was gushing I remember that, and it is all I can remember. If I was not left with a horrible headache and sick. I would of thought nothing of it. Some times it is that day but usually about the third day like this was.. I pray it is all over for those people.. such destruction.. It could happen about anywhere.. I hope Alaska does not have too much aftermath from this one.. I see Ron got here. I'm very happy today and yet sad..

Lois - so sorry to hear that you "carry this load". I must acknowledge that I got no fore warning of this quake/s or tsunami. None. Unless it was the holding my breath until I couldn't dream. But that was a clean wave not the horrible black filigreed wave of destruction (with cars, boats, and airplanes swirling it it) that we all saw on TV. A disaster psychic I am not.

Ah...reporting dreams seems a little mundane but I'll just say that my dreams have been very odd lately. There are no people and I seem to be trying to fit something into a pattern and maybe playing a computer in this effort. I struggle with it all night and do not feel that I've accomplished whatever it is I'm trying to accomplish by morning. On days that I don't work I "go back to" my last dream after taking a medication that I have to take one hour before my am coffee. Going back doesn't work either. In fact, I'm relieved to get up and out of bed.
I don't have any illusions that these dreams are significant.

I only feel worry now about the darn reactors .. It was a miracle about the baby surving all that flood.. Her family must be very relieved. Of course they had no hope when they seen the video of how it came in. They say never give up hope.

I missed the baby that survived the flood - do you have a link? I wondered if children might be found here and there without parents.

Paulette,
I often have dreams about having to go back to school too... or at least I did... in my case it wasn't the university though... it was Middle School oddly enough. They forced me to go back to middle school because I hadn't finished some of my classes for some reason... I think it was Math or something and they made me sit in the principal's office... lol...
This seems to be a common dream... ~shrug~

OK I'm back in the dreaming saddle. While I was sick my dreams were fractured and didn't seem significant.
A dream early this am. I was in a small house by the sea with my children. It didn't seem to be the waking Paulette nor my children (Lorelei will understand - when your father isn't your father). But in the dream that's who and where we were. It was a small cabin like house with a fireplace for heat. It was blowing and dark and I was trying to keep the fireplace going - there were downdrafts and the house filled with smoke. All of a sudden I realized that I couldn't hear the waves. I went outside and the water was gone. It was at the horizon and sand just stretched out and out. I went back in not realizing what this meant. Shortly thereafter a wave came and pushed in the front door, swirled clothing and stuff around in the darkness. I wasn't sure if my children were still in the house. I was trying to quickly retrieve some clothes for us and go....somewhere? Outside into the wind and high water?
If I had been "me" in the dream - when the water went out I would have grabbed them and ran. Its like I was in someone else's life. We weren't Japanese - more like First Nations along the Pacific coast.
Well there it is. I hope it is not a future event.

Well...I had the flu or cold (for weeks) and fought it off and then on Thurs (last day of work) my office staff sounded like seals barking - everyone had the same sound cough. Not me! I said. By the end of the day I was coughing and losing my voice. OK...skip to today. Sick feverish. But this is about dreaming - I took some generic dramamine (antihistamine) to dry up my dripping nose and sinuses (YUCK TMI). The first night I took it I started talking in my sleep - I woke myself up talking in my sleep! Husband tried to talk back and said that whatever he said didn't seem to be taken in. OK. This is new.
Next night (last night) I was dreaming and what was significant was the COLORS. I was in a little "store" in the middle of the woods and the owner/manager whatever was painting it and getting ready to open for business. (Funny when I type this it seems slightly UFOish - small store in the middle of nowhere ...)
Anyway I woke up with the colors in my mind and they were not usual store colors. The ceiling was a very bright purple (not unlike the background color here) and the walls were an equally intense blue green. The effect of looking at these colors was .... mesmerizing.
The drug info I got off the Internet said that people can have nightmares. I can't say that fear or strong feelings were involved in my dreams but certainly intensities. I've gone on antibiotics now so hope not to have to take any more of this. It is the same drug that is in over the counter sleep remedies. Yikes.

~nods~ diphenhydramine or however you spell it. It's in tylenol pm and most over the counter sleep aids.
I did some research on it on wikipedia. The drug is used to treat may symptoms, the main thing it is used for is allergies.
The original formula for "Dramamine" (motion sickness medicine) was also Diphenhydramine... along with "Benadryl". Why you ask? Because it is a smooth muscle/tissue relaxant. It relaxes the muscles in the stomach to reduce nausea. They stopped using it in "Dramamine" because of the sleepy side effect it causes and now use some other drug for motion sickness. This is why it is used in over the counter sleep aids. It makes you very very sleepy. (my mother used to give me Benadryl whenever we had to fly anywhere to chill me out lol...)
It also is a mild anti-depressant. According to the article I read about it, Prozac was invented in an attempt to achieve the same anti-depressant effects without the sleepiness side effect.
It really is a miracle drug... I consider it a must for any medicine cabinet. It can save your life from a life-threatening allergic reaction. When I had a bad reaction to some prescription anti-biotics (broke out in a horrible itchy-red rash) my doctor told me to take Benadryl for it. It worked almost immediately.

I use Tylenol PM, but I cannot say that it has given me any weird dreams, but I don't get the normal side effects with drugs. Things that hype others up will put me to sleep, and things that put others to sleep will only mildly relax me. So, when I take a PM it will relax me, but it won't necessarily put me to sleep. I will still toss and turn after taking it.
The only med that I have had that really messed with me, and altered the colors while dreaming was some pain med I was given while in labor. I have a very low pain threshold and was passing out between contractions. They gave me this med via IV (can't remember the name), and I would dream while I was passed out and the colors were all off. It is hard to explain, but it was almost like the colors were more intense, but slightly smeared. Kind of like the really old color TVs. I remember very little about the dreams, but remember the colors vividly. It was weird. Not something I want to experience again anytime soon.

That drug is in every drippy nose pill and always has been. I never touch it.. I feel weird and cold and out of this world.. I never want that feeling. Everyone takes it on this planet..and always has. I learned about it back in the 60s. I have bad sinuses.. and I tell everyone that durg does not help my. I have to take the decongestion drugs. They do no bother me.. anything that stops drips will make me feel awful..It is more like crazy, not understanding yourself..

Well...I'm happy to report that the antibiotic I am taking has slain the evil empire of bugs that I was hosting (alas the friendlies were sacrificed as well). I can breathe, I feel like my chest is hollow again (as compared to full of germ molasses). My dreams are now just dreams - irritating and entertaining as they may be. All good enough.

OK. Has a dream this am before awakening (well yeah). I was finding minerals and crystals and at one point held up a piece of crystal and could see through it. So today Husband and I went out on the back roads - he just likes to drive, I like to see things and find things. We in one area and I was grumpy - it was the "wrong" place. We eventually ended up further north on a logging road called "Lost Lake" and spurs of that road. We stopped at a place the road builder has blasted into the cliff to get road fill. I never find anything in these but look anyway.
He walked one way. I walked the other - In front of me was a pure translucent white crystal mass about the size of my hand. At my foot. When I climbed down in the hole we found some bigger pieces (with a lot of basalt attached). These are the most beautiful crystals I've ever collected. I can't help but wonder if I found them BEFORE I woke up.

New urgent dream after weeks of unrememberable night mental tweeting and such. Well...I'm not sure it WAS a dream. I woke up because a very loud noise awakened me. Because when I awoke it was quiet and late and my bed buddy was asleep and I could see no reason to run around the house or wake him up - I fell asleep immediately. Some minutes (?) later I was again awakened and this time I jumped up in bed it was so loud and woke my husband. Of course the room was then totally quiet. What I heard was this: a VERY LOUD metallic sound that had a doppleganger (is that the right term?) effect. That is, it started from afar and then got so loud I jumped and then rapidly faded away. It was like nothing I have ever heard but if I choose something close - it was like a train wreck. That loud! Terrifying and twice. I started trying to explain it to my husband - noting that it was 2:17 and what I was saying wasn't going to be well received because it didn't make "sense". I already knew that. And there was a fragment of a dream that came with me and this wasn't reassuring either. I had a "picture" of three different women and I was supposed to tell someone (it was a test) how they were similiar. One was old, one was middle aged, one was younger.....I didn't know them, other than being female humans - white I guess as well - what was similar? The second noise was punishment for not getting the answer right. Or maybe just an outburst that frightened me, much as an exasperated adult would yell at a child (who would not get the message but be frightened).
I was so tired at work today that I fell asleep at my computer sitting upright. I'd fall asleep and wake up and not be able to stay awake and fall asleep again. (Somehow I did not fall out of my skimpy computer chair). I'm off to bed early tonight hoping for dreamless oblivion.
PS. I really believe that the sound "happened". Of course I wish that my husband had heard it. But they don't seem to - do they???

The sound in the "dream" you are describing seems like the last episode of sleep paralysis I had... only it wasn't a metallic crunching sound, it was a high pitched shrieking sound that sounded like it came from far away and changed in pitch as it drew nearer (the Doppler Effect) before "exploding" right in the middle of my bedroom. Very creepy... I heard that noise twice to... the first time it woke me up in sleep paralysis. The second time, I heard it as I was drifting off back to sleep after I had snapped out of the paralysis... and it snapped me awake again.

You have described it better than me - it was high pitched shrieking. I don't know if I was having sleep paralysis - because I was sound asleep. Isn't sleep paralysis when one's brain has awakened and one's body is still in lock down from REM sleep? Anyway - nothing happened last night. I quizzed husband and he dimly remembered me waking him up but not why or what I said. I have awakened to noises rarely before - once when we lived in an "active" house (haunted?) I'd hear a shout or scream before I awoke - and guests reported this as well. Then absolutely nothing except once thinking that there was something scratching at the roof of my van while I slept in it (I looked - no marks). It could have been a racoon - the campsites here are full of them.
Anyone but Lorelei and I have exploding metal shrieking noises that wake them up???

I found my post. Here it is, with the date it was posted: I had an episode of sleep paralysis again last night. Stupidly, I had fallen asleep on my back again ~rolls eyes~. It always happens when I am on my back... I didn't hear voices or see people this time. I was alone... at least to the best of my knowledge I was. I couldn't open my eyes again this time. I was fighting it, as I always do. Sometimes, when I fight it, it will jolt me awake, and I was hoping this would happen again. Right before the paralysis struck me, I heard a weird noise. The noise is what woke me up because I had been asleep. I'm not really sure how to describe it. It was a high-pitched whining noise that sounded like it had been affected by the Doppler Affect, like it came screaming towards me at a very quick speed and suddenly stopped with an explosion of high-pitched sound about three feet in front of my face. Panicked, once again, and annoyed as I usually am when I find myself in this predicament, I tried to move- with a very GREAT effort... after about two minutes of this struggle, as though trying to lift an incredibly heavy weight, I managed to move my right arm about an inch. After I got it to moving, relief washed over me. I jolted out of it, sat up and looked around my room. All was quiet. I heard my mother come out of her bedroom and walk down the hallway to the bathroom. I rolled over onto my side and started to drift off to sleep again... when I heard that whining sound again... which snapped me out of my almost-asleep state. I tested my arms by twisting my wrists because often when I have sleep paralysis or lucid dreams, I will fall back asleep and find myself in that state again, sometimes two or three more times. My wrists moved. Ahhh. Good. I went back to sleep and didn't have any more problems.

The word is German in origin. There is only one recorded experience, at least that I can recall, where I experienced this. Remember I wrote I was a night person. When I was first married, and we did not have children, I used to stay up late and sleep in during the days. My husband is just the opposite. He's in bed early and up early. We were living in a tiny house (around 800 square feet) and I was asleep in our bedroom. There was a tiny hallway that lead directly into the front room where the front door opened directly into the front room. Any way I was asleep and hubby said he saw me walk down the hallway past him and to the kitchen. He said "good morning" and I walked by. He wondered why I didn't answer and he wondered why I never returned from the kitchen. A few minutes later the "real" me awoke to find him asking how I managed to walk past him to the bedroom without him knowing it. He also wondered why I never replied "good morning". My response was "I was asleep" and I was. This is a good example of a doppelganger. daisy

Cool. Thanks for explaining mdaisy. I thought it was a Dutch term and not a German term... I know what "gang" means in German... but I didn't know "Doppel" was "Double". "Double-walker". Hmm... interesting... It's a good thing you didn't see yourself. According to the wikipedia article I just read- if you had seen yourself that would have been a death omen... Spooky...

Never experienced the metal shrieking sound and I'd just as soon pass on that. I am not at all good with noise right now. Traffic noise, TV noise..it all is grating to me It's been said that everyone on the planet has a doppleganger, or double (the word has a couple of meanings depending on where you look ). I prefer thinking the people I know are unique and untwinned LOL. How cool for your crystal find Paulette
