I had a really weird experience last night. I was asleep in my truck minding my own business when suddenly I woke up for no apparent reason. It was about 1:30 in the morning. I turned on the light and happened to glance down and saw this big huge ugly black and brown spider on my sleeping bag! It was just a few inches away from my shoulder and looking at me like it had evil thoughts on its mind. Needless to say I broke the sound barrier getting out of the sleeping bag which is probably a good thing since the only sounds I would have heard were cusswords. After checking to make sure there weren't any spiders crawling on me I then turned on all the lights and just about tore the place apart looking for the eight-legged fiend. Nothing. Not a sign of him anywhere. I turned the sleeping bag inside out. Nothing. I ripped the pillow cases off the pillows and searched under the mattress. Still nothing. As I stood there shivering with cold and fear I started thinking about what had happened. The first question that popped into my head was, "how could a spider possibly have gotten into the truck?" The second thing that dawned on me was that I had never seen a spider that looked like that one. It was very thick and didn't resemble any type of spider I had ever seen. I slowly came to the conclusion that there had not really been any spider there at all. I must have just dreamed the whole silly thing. It sure scared the bejeepers outta me though. I thought for sure I was a goner.

~nods~ Sounds like the notorious truck-invading disappearing brown and black spider. We have them up here in Alaska.

SKY you scared me. At first I thought you were going to say someone was at the window peeping in. ;D
We have big brownish black spiders here where I live also. Where I lived when first married I would go out and hang my wash on a line. . I would always be barefooted. Once one of them was crawling on my toes. I looked down and could not believe the size of it . two inches long and very furry like. I screamed and ran through the grass With every step as they were everywhere between every blade of grass. Tons of them . I never went out in that yard again with out shoes on.
Dreams can seem real. I read once when a person wakes and opens his eyes the image of that dream is still in the room in front of you. I have had that happen many times. You may be awake but your dream image carries on a second or two . Has that ever happen to anyone here?
Did you go back to sleep after that? I would of sat up all night with one eye open.. I usually do not scare with spiders but don't want them critters crawling on me . Louise's husband has a panic attack if he see one in there home. Are you scared of spiders too?

I hate spiders. Can't stand them nasty little creepy crawly things...especially if they are creeping and crawling over me. I actually did go back to sleep after I convinced myself it wasn't real. I guess my fear of exhaustion overruled the spider.

Kelly didn't know what to think when she first met me. I had pet spiders loose in the house but they were a certain kind of hairy black and white wolf spider that some have often mistaken for a black widow. When she first started living with me I had about a dozen of them crawling around freely. It took her awhile to realize they were harmless. I was bitten by one but it's non venomous and I think I got too close in it's space is why because they usually aren't aggressive. I haven't seen any in our new home yet. I usually catch and release other types to the outdoors if I see them in the house. The brown recluse and black widows I will kill. Her sister stayed with us for awhile and they had a pet tarantula in the house. I let it crawl on me. Hairy thing it was,,,,,big too.

Everyone has his own likes but this is crazy..I can just see your wife now when she discovered your pets. Those recluse are thick near the current river where my brother lives. He picks them off of trees everyday.. Even brought some up here to show us. We sent him and his jar back to the truck in one second. I had one brother who was bitten by one four times on his shoulder. He did not get help. His feet turned black and one side of his face. When he finally went to the doctor .. he told him he could not do much for him at such late date. I do not remember what they did for him but he got over it It happened while he was sleeping. .. Oh! maybe I should not tell this to sky..

Want me to confess to ANYTHING? Bring in the spiders. Shuddering. Ever since..you guessed it..the creepy little gits came along. I'm not particularly fond of grasshoppers either. But...I would confess to singlehandedly robbing fort knox...if someone tied me down and brought out the spiders.

I've had hairy spiders and small spindly ones dropping by a web more than once in my car . And i'm like Sky, "how do they get in here??" I never leave my car(s) sitting with the windows open. You never know what has crawled in there while you were gone! So, these days, my car gets vacuumed and a few squirts of raid ;D. We also do the catch and release, but I always enlist someone else.

I wouldn't get close enough to squish one so the world of spiders has no reason to have a hit out on me. I'm really not sure why they bug me (pun intended). There wasn't really any similarities except larger eyes and only two of them...they were a bit spindley rather than human muscley..made me think their home had less gravity. Truth is..I don't want to consider them in human terms..I don't want to think of them with ingrown toe nails or sagging 'anythings' or tooth aches..because then that air of dismissal is too close to home. I'm mentally better with the 'alien' space between and I think now..there are lots better directions for my brain to go

I'd be right behind Lorelei having a heart attack and dying but unless visitors here resemble what we are used to...there will be a lot of people joining Lorelei and I.

Lots of dreams lately but little time to write them down so I will attempt to get caught up on some of them now. First one happened on February 26, the day after our last group experiment (that I slept through. : . The dream was about a bunch of lions that were stalking me and a friend in a forest of tall pine trees. We managed to evade the bloodthirsty carnivores and decided to sit down and relax on some big steps leading up a hill. I was sitting on the bottom step minding my own business when I suddenly realized that there was a bunch of tall grass in front of me that would be perfect for a bloodthirsty lion to use to sneak up on me. That was when I woke up and turned all the lights on to make sure there were no lions in the room with me. I know that is silly but I did it anyway. I also had a nosebleed that night...and it was the full moon so it is pretty much business as usual for me and my weirdness. Don't know why I keep dreaming about lions. I've had several of those dreams over the past several months. Used to just be sharks, then snakes and alligators and dinosaurs...now lions. Weird. The next dream occurred just a couple of days ago and I don't really remember a lot about it. What I do remember is that it involved a baby boy that appeared to be an alien/human hybrid. It looked almost entirely human but I still somehow knew it wasn't. I was in what appeared to be a small general store or an old gas station/convenience store with a small group of other people. Somebody suggested that the "alien" baby should be killed and that caused the little boy to start crying so I went over and picked him up and told the people they should be ashamed of themselves for saying something like that and making the little dude cry. One of the women there offered to take him from me so I handed the baby to her. That's is about all I remember of that dream. Don't have a clue what it means if anything and I'm not going to try to figure it out. And that brings us to last night. Last night I had another nightmare. This one was a little more typical in that instead of having lions and bears and stuff, it had giant octopuses and...sharks. It seems that I was trying to get a small boat across a lake that was filled with octopuses and squids and stuff. There were hundreds of them and they were all trying to grab the boat. I managed to pry their tentacles off of the side and was about to get the boat moving when a giant great white shark chomped down on the bow! I wacked him with the oar and he let go but then the octopuses started slithering up the sides of the boat. They were all different colors...purple, pink, red, green...and most of them weren't really doing much damage. I knew that somewhere down there was a giant squid that I was worried would show up but I hadn't seen it yet so I started rowing the boat forward hoping he wouldn't show up. Then the shark chomped on the bow again. I was trying to pry his mouth open with the oar but he just kept clamping down on the boat so that it wouldn't move...and that's when I woke up from that one. I have been having nosebleeds the past couple of days and a couple of days ago I started having a problem with my left ear too. It somehow got plugged up for some reason. This is the same ear that I remember the little space pirates shoving something inside of. It is the same ear that always gives me problems but I haven't had any trouble with it recently until just a couple of nights ago. Don't know if any of this has any connection to anything. Weirdness as usual.

My left ear has been bothering me off and on for the past couple of weeks ever since Kelly left for Arkansas. It feels like something is stuck down in there. Kelly and I were searching for the earache medicine last night hoping to try to flush out whatever is in there. It's slightly messing with my equilibrium and causing minor pain that comes and goes.

Oh dear. Octopus and squids AND great white sharks. I hate it when that happens.
I like that you protected the "crying little dude" who you thought was a hybrid. Children (of any species) should be protected if possible. IMO. Of course, I watched Alien and I've seen baby rats and know that they quickly grow to be big rats. But in the old Testament there are passages about smashing in babies' heads (don't ask me exactly where). And of course the Germans didn't seem to have much trouble starving and killing innocent Jewish and gypsy and politcal dissidents' children. And then there's the constant wars and such. But I'd like to think that we could outgrow that...
I would definitely stand up for a hybrid child no matter what the politics were. To do any less is to be less than humane and capable of manifesting compassion. If there is any test of our angry monkey tendancies and whether we can rise above them and have meaningful contact - this would be it IMO.

We know the shark is probably a representation of the Grey space pirates and it was holding the boat so that I couldn't get away so obviously it wanted the tentacle things to get at me. But what do the tentacle things represent?

ugh. I didn't want to mention that my left ear has been ringing. It's not constant. But a high pitched ring of 5-15 seconds gets your attention . It's times like these that I wish other members of TEOR would get on here and let us know if they are having some of these symptoms too. How much effort does that take? I've been sleeping a lot this weekend, which is normal for how little sleep I got during the week . Lots of dreams. Sorry your sleep has been so interrupted, Sky.

It appears there are several of us having symptoms in our ears. Morgan (left ear), Jo (which ear ?), Lorelei ( left ear), Jc (left ear), and myself (left ear).

Did you feel the bear put the chomps on you? I normally don't feel things in my dreams. Only a few times that I can remember anyway.

I had some more weird dreams the past few nights. The first one was about three days ago and was about a giant shark that was trying to put the chomps on me. The thing was huge! It was so big that when I hid inside a little cave it wasn't able to reach its mouth in to get me. It put its monster sized eye up to a little hole in the rock to try to see where I was an I started punching it in the eyeball. It felt like punching a giant rubber balloon. Didn't seem to hurt the shark any though. The night before last I dreamed that I was traveling through a forest on a three day journey to meet up with some friends but I found out I was going to have to stop part of the way through and have some kind of surgery. Some doctor was going to meet me and remove something from inside of me. Don't know what it was but I was worried about having the surgery because there was a huge man-eating bear wandering somewhere through the forest and I thought if I had the surgery I might be too weak to defend myself against him. It wouldn't be cool if I was unconscious and got ate up by a bear. I woke up from the dream right about then and decided to stay awake for a little while because I didn't want to go back to sleep and finish that same dream about the bear. I stayed up for about 15 minutes or so then went back to bed. Once asleep I had another dream similar to the first one. In this one I was also in a forest, apparently after meeting the friends I was heading towards in the first dream, and we were going to run a race. There was a path through the trees that we were supposed to race on. When the race started I took off running but for some reason my legs would not work right. I was having to struggle just to take a step and it was so hard to move that I reached down with my hands and started pulling myself forward by grabbing things on the ground. As hard as it was to move my legs I was surprised to find out that I was actually leading the race. Then the dream shifted and suddenly I was inside of an empty house still running the race. The walls were dark brown wood like the trees in the forest and the floor was covered with green shag carpet that looked sort of like grass. This time we were still racing but were just going around and around on a path inside of the room. I was still really struggling to run and my legs were still almost paralyzed and I was still having to pull myself along by grabbing the shag carpet. Somehow I was still winning though. I have a lot of dreams where I'm not able to run like that. My legs just never want to work right in my dreams. Don't know why but it happens all the time. At least in these dreams I didn't actually get chomped by anything but the threat was still there. I don't remember having any dreams last night but I did wake up in the middle of the night and looked at my wristwatch to see what time it was. It was exactly 2:22 and 22 seconds. Weird.
